How do you reason with unreasonable people?

If they're more intent on being right or being in control than doing whatever's best, what do you do to try to make them see things differently (supposing you are right yourself). On a family/friends level.

 

you can't. people like that, deal with others by means of an authoritarian model of reality.
if, your in a relationship with someone like that DUMP THEM NOW AND CUT YOUR LOSSES!
that is way, way, way more easy to say then do too; yet it can be done!
i did it, hurts like a motherfucker too... best thing i ever for myself in my life.

controlling people play life by a zero sum game plan (winner takes all.)
they will throw a few crumbs to you at times, to keep you placated. they won't ever let you have the carrot big time though.

life is hard enough. why in the fuck, would anyone want to make life harder then it need be, by having people like that in their lives?
