    Well?

    When you genuinely laugh at something, what sort of laugh do you have?

    Do you have a cackling loud laugh, Dr Evil laugh, ape-like shriek, Dr Hibbert chuckle, Do you just chuckle, Gasp-laugh, Choking-laugh Belly-laugh, Snort laugh, Walrus laugh (when you take deep inhales of breath between each laugh)? Or something else, perhaps?

    I have a snort laugh.. :& I can't really help it.

    Explain.

    p.s Anyone here good at math? I need help understanding linear equasions. I'm stumped. :confused:

    I giggle. starts loud then turns iton quiet giggles. Its weird poeple whom I havent seen in a while recognize my giggles. I had my ex'es mom stick her head out and ask 'is that Hilda I hear?' from inside the house. I cackle when im being evil or llaughing at someone I dislike.

    i have several real laughs, depending on how funny something is, the type of humor, and some other as of yet undefined variable...

    and i used to be good at math, but i haven't done any of it in years and now i don't even remember what a linear equation is...

    my most sincere laughter comes in the form of "ha-ha-ha" from the belly/chest. of course I have several other laughs, but that's the one I use if I think something is really funny.

    I'm good with some types of math, but I don't know what a linear equation is.

    linear equation...

    it's just an equation that can be represented as a straight line on a coordinate plane.

    :D

    word. if you like slope-intercept form.

    or you could always go with point-slope.

    y-y(sub 1) = m(x - x(sub 1))

    Well you have to do that first to get the slope right? It's been awhile.

    to get slope you just..

    m = y(sub2) - y(sub1) / x(sub2) - x(sub1)

    sloppy yeah. the internet is a bad format for trying to type out equations.

    Augh! Math!

    Math does not make me laugh. However, I laugh like a little kid. It's weird.

    None of those explanations for the linear equations made any sence at all. [IMG]

    We're doing something on "x" and "y" measuring it like:
    x,y
    (0,0)

    ...gah!

    you can think of x and y in the form of (0,0), as directions to reaching a specific point in the coordinate plane.

    If that's sad than I am in the pitiful catergory...

    I laugh all the time which is always geniune, my fake laughs usually consist of me saying, hardy har or ha, but I normally don't fake laugh.. Laughing is great and I just let it out, don't know what it sounds like, sometimes I laugh so hard that no sound comes out and I can't breathe, and that is my favorite laugh..
    But meh, I don't know, I probably sound like a donkey...

    as for your math question, I have no idea and good luck with that!

    One of my teachers tried to explain it to me, and used an example:

    When X = 0
    5 x 0 + 3y= 30
    0 + 3y = 30

    3y devided by 3 = 30 devided by 3 = 10

    Y = 10 When X = 0 (intercept)
    (0,10)
    5X + 3(0) = 30
    5X = 30

    5 X devided by 5 = 30 = 30 devided by 5
    X = 3 When y = 0
    (6,0)

    My mind blanked at "When X = 0"

    this would be a lot easier if I could draw for you. keep in mind I'm not the greatest teacher either.

    you know the coordinate plane right?

    [IMG]

    well, the line going across horizontally is the x-axis, and the line running vertically is the y-axis.

    basically, when you have an x value, the x value tells you where to move HORIZONTALLY. so, if we have an x value of 0, then our point cannot move either direction horizontally, and is left on the y axis.

    so, if we solve our equation in terms of our x value equaling 0, we should be able to find our Y intercept, just like in the example you provided.

    The y-intercept is just a fancy term for where the line crosses the Y-axis.

    I hope this helped feel free to ask more questions if I didn't do a good job explaining.

    Ok your original formula is:

    5x + 3y = 30

    You want to first 'set' the x to 0, so you can figure out the y intercept:

    5x + 3y = 30
    5(0) + 3y = 30
    0 + 3y = 30
    3y = 30
    y = 10
    (0,10)

    Now you have the y intercept, so y = 10 when x = 0.

    And when y = 0, you need to find out what x equals (setting the y to 0):

    5x + 3y = 30
    5x +3(0) = 30
    5x + 0 = 30
    5x = 30
    x = 6
    (6,0)

    Does that make more sense?

    edit: I just saw that neo posted a graph, so if you plot these two points: (0,10) and (6,0), then connect them... there is your line.

    When plotting coordinates just remember it like a plane taking off. First coordinate is x so you follow that out on the x axis (left and right), then the second coordinate is y so you plot that out on the y axis (up and down).
