This thread is pretty self-explanatory. How do you feel when you finish a book?

Usually when I've read a book I tend to feel tired.

If I've really been into a book and its characters and the story sometimes I'll feel a little sad when i've finished it because Im not part of their 'world' anymore. Ha thats a little lame i guess.

I usually feel relieved that I finally got to the end, but then dissapointed because the story's all over.

I don't think it's lame. I feel basically the same way.

Unless I'm reading it for school, if I get to the end of a book, it means I really like it, and it is kind of sad when it ends. I wonder a lot about what happens afterwords. A sign of a good novel is when the reader forgets that it's fiction.

I always kinda feel like I've lost a friend! I guess you spend so much time with all those characters that when they're gone I always feel a little sad, but glad I've finished it so I can move on!

It totally depends on the book...if it sucks, I'm happy I'm done with it. :p But other books, I'm wondering what else happens, speculating, wanting more...:p

Yes, it definitely depends on the book, but sometimes, if it's a really good book, I feel like I've been gutted. As I read the book, I look at how little I have left, and get disappointed. Once I read a book that was so food that I was a little depressed when I finished. It's a little extreme, but I the characters were fulfilling a dream I would have liked to experience.

Do you guys get this way at the end of music albums as well?

when i finish a book i'm really satisfied but yah, same as others have said, i just crave more when i'm finished. but i usually have another book all lined up and waiting in the wings.

it's different for an album with me because listening to it all over again only takes an hour out of my life!

Definatly depends on the book, generally its quite satisfying to finish a book, and its nice to have finally got to the end and found out whats happened. But if its a really good book that I get really emotionally involved in then i'm always a bit gutted that I can't be part of that world anymore.

I agree with the feeling of being sad that you are not part of that world anymore. Also does anyone remember the bit in Catcher in the Rye where Holden talks about finishing a book and wishing that the author was just a terrific friend of his so he could call him up and talk about the book. I have related to that a number of times.
