how do you cook your grilled cheese? in a unique place? with a special ingredient? any interesting grilled cheese phenomena out there?
i lighty toast the bread in the toaster...then i just make a regular grilled cheese on the stovetop...
normally just a bit of cheese between 2 slices and in the toaster oven... but as a treat once in a while, I butter the bread with garlic butter, being the 'outside' of the sandwich, and the cheese in the middle, and fry it up on the pan.
The Aussie way is to stick it under the flame grill without butter on bread. Bloody beautiful....some people have it with tomato and maybe ham, or even apple slices or barbecue sauce. I just like cheese with cracked pepper and thyme.
Whole wheat or whole grain bread, REAL cheese, none of that processed cheese food crap, and only a thin layer of butter flavored fat-free cooking spray in the pan. Toasted until very lightly golden on each side, but not too golden, just barely, enough to make the cheese melt. I always squish the sandwich with a spatula while cooking it too, makes it's all squishy flat and the cheese melts out of the sides. I tend to prefer the white cheeses over the yellow, especially Provolone or Gouda, or a nice spicy Pepper Jack. I also like it with either pickles or hot peppers in between the layers of cheese.
butter the pan, put the bread on, put in some chedder, add a dash of garlic powder, then butter the top piece and put it on butter side up. DELICIOUSSSSSSSSS MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM YESS. eating grilled cheese wih bbq sauce is yum too
