Smeared all over edge to edge? (Non- sexual comments PLEASE!!!) Are you a crust avoider, only doing the middle? Are you one of those double-sided butterers???
I start by saying " Darling , I'd love some buttered toast" . Then it arrives. Am I spoilt or what !!!!
I butter to the edges... I love the crust but sometimes I don't consume all of the crust if it is not to my liking. I have a weakness for bread, toasted to perfection. and I admit, sometimes I do not know which side my bread is buttered on.
One side only, but doesn't matter which. Fully covered with the good stuff, the whole thing will then be consumed with cold cuts.
I must confess, I really don't give a fuck how anyone butters their toast. Seems rather insignificant and not worthy of attention. Unless of course it's slang for something else.
Using a butter knife, I put a dollop in the center or around the bottom in the center and spread the butter out to the edges. Then I scrape the bottom edge with the knife to make sure it's all off. When I'm done, I sprinkle salt on it. Sometimes I use peanut butter instead of butter and salt.
