plug them both into your video card. right click on your desktop, go to properties, then in the tabs at the top go to settings. Click on the number two, then u just have to check the box that says 'extend my desktop onto this moniter' or something like that.. there is a program that will extend the taskbar onto that moniter too, but i forget what it's called.

You will either need to get a 2nd video card or you will need to replace the one you have with a card that has 2 jacks on it. Most of the 2 jack cards these days have a VGA and a DVI jack, this is fine, if both of your monitors have VGA plugs, you can get an adapter which will allow you to plug s monitor with a VGA plug into a DVI jack. Once you have done that, follow danyo's instructions above.

ok, there is another jack on the video card, but it is diffrent, so i am assumeing that the vga is the common format, and that from what you are saying here is that, the other jack which is prolly a dvi can be used with an adapter cord.

I want to be able to keep this screen on one moniter, while on the other screen i would be searching for an online supplier for the adapter plug, rather than drop down this explorer, an open another here on the same screen.

My brother got me a monitor for christmas, he was supposed to get me computer speakers.

Yep, you probably have everything you need except the DVI to VGA Adapter. You should not have any trouble finding them locally for less than $10, unless you live in a really small town. Once you get the adapter and follow the instructions, it will do what you are describing.

yeah, and beta was a better video tape, and dat was a better audio tape, and both faded off into the cosmos. I have heard that linux & unix are superior but like the established trend, i suspect that it will not become common place.

yeah, i hope that Linux does not become common place, but idk if my hopes are realistic. its a good thing that Windows is fading out though. lol....

Well, i had to mail off, since the circuit city kids had no clue, finally got my dvi to vga conversion plug, plug was like 7 bucks, shipping was the 9, so it was a 16 dollar gig. i plugged the 17 inch flat screen into the dvi female jack, and tried to follow the posted options for setting up the 2nd moniter, well those options don't seem to exist. I went through a buch of "troubleshooter" boxes, clicked on that "skip this, try another option", option alot, but i still can't set up my 2nd monitor.

But, tonight, when i fired up the tower, both moniters went throught the upload with graphix on both moniters, then the 2nd one expressed "No Sync", which mean n signal. I am runing, windows XP pro media edition.

Can anyone help, or should i ask, does anyone need a 17 in" flat screen?

This most likely a driver issue. What is type of video card is it ? Are you using Windows XP ?

yes, windows xp pro media edition, i don't know what video card i have, the 17" was already working when it was plugged into the vga jack, so i don't think it is a driver issue
