Ok, I went to get my hair dreaded at what my friend claimed to be a specialist hairdressers, the lady who did my hair had dreads so i thought what could go wrong?
She backcombed it it more or less 5 times per dread (but said my hair was really easy to backcomb) then put BEESWAX in and twisted it till it was hard. She then said it would all flake out in the next 2 weeks. Well.. it's been a month, and there is still wax in my hair... how do I get it out? My mum says that if something hasnt been done right then the hairdresser, legally, should put it right free of charge. The whole process only took two hours also, and my hair was then 18" (obviously shortened by dreading)... somebody help???

Arg she donesnt know what shes talking about. wax will never leave. You can try melting it out by putting them in boiling water but to be honest if she put that much in there you'll need a lot of luck.

so either grown your dreads out and chop off the waxed bits.... or start again.

    Frustrating. Good luck with that.

I still find wax in my hair and it's been months since I stopped using it.

I think Fleassy has the best idea. Wait for them to grow out and then chop off the wax ends!

Well, did she use actual beeswax or the beeswax products?

I used DreadheadHQ's beeswax every once in a while when my dreads got really fuzzy and it got pretty much absorbed into my dreads.

Melting it out sounds like a pretty good idea.

I've had the BEESWAX experience - while in Jamaica last year. Met some ladies, who offered to sort out my loose roots. They did exactly the same to me - lots of twisting and melting beeswax onto my roots with it hardening rock solid. They assured me it would some off naturally after a couple of weeks, but MONTHS later I still had it in my hair and it was getting really gunky with dust and crap sticking to it.

I posted my worries on here at the time, and a kindly person advised me to use this product:

    http://www.ecos.com/NEWSITE/pages/products/fruit.html

It's made for getting dirt and WAX off fruit and vegetables, made with natural ingredients. I bought it, tried it, and it dissolved all that nasty wax! Worked a treat.
