its also a convenient way for them to dismiss the shitty things theyve done in their lives

why bother being nice your whole life when youve brainwashed yourself to believe that all you need to do is repent and be saved

I think it stems from faith or certain belief systems but it can also be a way for people to make others feel better when they can’t explain the pain of losing a loved one. “She’s in a better place” is all people said to me when my grandmother died a few years ago. It didn’t make me feel better.

    That statement completely contradicts itself.

If a person is not a part of the 144,0o0 then they are not going to heaven (majority)

The Book of Revelation was probably written metaphorically in order to encode it to protect the manuscript from the Romans who may well have destroyed it if it didn't read as gibberish rather than what essentially amounts to a fifth Gospel. (That last bit is a simplification)

It is believed to have been written by John while exiled on the island Patmos.

In any case, not to be taken literally.

I rejected the notion of going to heaven immediately upon death many years ago.

I wondered that too. My parents were witnesses and raised me that way too. I didn't believe in it so I got out when I left home.
    I am a Christian but not a J W.

  9. A dear friend escaped catholism many yrs ago, but got sucked into the JW life. It took me decades to escape religion, but finally did in my mid 60's, true FREEDOM.

The heaven/hell B.S. just a lot of the brainwashing....boy are brains washed....

Because instead of actually reading and studying what the Bible really says about it, they take other people's word for it....

The only heavens and hells of which I am aware are those which we concoct between our own two ears, believe to be true, then proceed to inflict upon ourselves and each other.

So unconditional love is limited to 144,000 people only. No wonder Christians are so judgemental and holier than thou.

No the 144,000 are the only ones going the heaven... the earth was made for mankind and that is where most of mankind will live forever, that seems like unconditional love to me.

History shows that often what many people have thought was BS has instead turned out to be the truth...

Well, as for coming back and saying there is an Afterlife, million have done that. It is called "Near Death Experiences." I had one of those and can tell you that there is an Afterlife. It is not anything like Religion thinks it is though.
