We'll see if this gets any daylight on the evening news here in about a half hour... http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jan/17/israel-gaza-phosphorus-civilians x
Oh dear. Here's another booger hanging out of Israel's racist nose. Ya'll paying attention? I hope so. It's coming out of your pocket if you're a US taxpayer. Not that the media will tell you that. http://www.miamiherald.com/news/world/AP/story/849351.html x
Our media seems a lot less focused on the civil war in Sirlanka and real genocide in Sudan than photo opping the Gaza strip. I dont see any press dispatches from Zimbwabe. Hammas and Big Media feed on dead Palistinians. Where was our media pressure when Hammas let the cease fire expire on December 19th ? Media Pressure to ban production of those rockets. Couldnt the money be better used to build the economy of Gaza rether than to provoke war by bombarding their neighbors? Where is our media to demand a home goverment for Gaza that values the lives of its civilians as more than a passion play to incite worldwide jihad? What does everybody think of Hammas leadership now?
It's hard to develop an economy when all the access to your community is controlled by a foreign government. When access and materials can be cut off without cause. Hamas was elected democratically by the people that voted. That's what I think of Hamas.
Didn't see this on any of the networks either. http://www.imemc.org/article/58541 They point to the root of the problem, not it's foliage. x
Israel has gone too far. I think most of the world now agrees. 1200+ to 13 deaths, and how many innocents on both sides? Neither has justification. Neither is without fault. But one bears much more guilt. They will live with it. And that will be a heavy burden. As an American I say no more aid. They have proven themselves above all normal laws of reason. They choose to wreak death on their enemies let them do it on their own dime. It's their war, their terror, not mine. It's not my place to choose one brother over another. Let god choose.
Bet nobody heard about this either: Israel recruits 'army of bloggers' to combat anti-Zionist Web sites' http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1056648.html Bring it. x
A few points on this thread about “Proportionate Reaction”, to paraphrase the comments. Is there such a thing in war? Anybody? Did Israel have legitimate Cassius Belli? Is Cassius Belli scaleable? Proportionate? What constitutes legitimate provocation? Or proportionate response? Back in 1755, Col George Washington of the Virginia militia shot and killed a French Captain, Phillip Juneau in the far western wilds of Pennsylvania. Seems Virginia’s Govenouur had dispatched Washington to scout out a few of Louis VX forts in the Allegheny Valley. Both Britain and France claimed the territory. Which was hundreds of miles from any French or British towns? The shooting of Capt. Juneau set off an international incident helping to trigger the Seven Years War 1756 to 1763 involving Britain, France, Spain, Austria, Prussia and others in fighting raging over five continents. Was the Seven Years War a proportionate response to the shooting of a French Captain deep in the wilderness? Weeks from colonial capitals, and a full season of travel from Britain or France? Well the answer is that Britain and France were ready for war. Like Israel and Palestine they had fought in the recent past and would fight again after a period of peace. Their forces opposed each other in North America, the Caribbean, India Africa and Europe. The nations were mobilized for war awaiting a spark. Was the loss of lives, property and treasure scalable to the provocation? Well Col. Washington suffered no loss to his reputation from the incident. As for France, Voltaire summed up the loss of Canada as the loss of a few miserable acres of snow. The nations were again at war only 15 years later when France joined in the American Revolution as a belligerent. The issue of proportionate response is not legitimate.
