Why are they showing it so much?!

This man was a MAJOR world leader. He was a good man, whether you agreed with everything he had to say or not. (Example, he disagreed with Bush about the war.) Also, this is a historical event. He has the longest term of pope, EVER. So, this is something most people (such as myself) have never seen. The passing of a pope and the election of a new one is a ritual that has gone on for CENTURIES. And, with worldwide news coverage in today's day and age, people are able to view this that would have never had the chance to. The new pope will also be someone who will also be a major figure in the world.

So, whether you think so or not, the reality is that this is a major even in history that will shape our future. Thats why they are covering this.

Turn the freakin channel or don't read it if its not your thing.

whenever i go into the livingroom/kitchen my grandma is watching the news so i've heard my share of coverage on that one... next..

i definitely can't respect a person who basically promoted the spread of aids throughout europe.

Fine, don't respect him, I mean to each their own. But it is still a historical event.

Granted the no condoms thing is retarded bullshit.

But its not like anyone took him very seriously... its not like any European countries banned condoms or anything. (unless they did... lemme know.)

But at least people in Europe knew about the cause of AIDS, Better then what Mbeki is doing to South Africa... telling the poor people there that poverty is causing HIV. :(

The pope did a lot of good things for the catholic church though, he basically made peace between the catholic church and the jewish people, and he did a lot to fight racism in Asia and Europe.

If you compare him to lots of other popes, he did a pretty ok job. :D
