Honetly how bad is weed for your lungs because ive herd all different views? what do you guys think? Does it effect your athletic performance at all?
Putting smoke into your lungs im guessin is never a good thing. I cant think of a daily smoker that i know who can run a decent amount of time without passing out. When you take a break and you ending up hacking up all the shit in your lungs? Arnt those dead lung cells? Smoking is fun but you have to do it in moderation. If not i do believe the long term affects are worse than most people want to accept, or even realize. I have known lots of smokers going on 15+ years. You should hear these people. They are defently damaging there body. Moderation people, moderation.
well i smoke only bud anywhere from 2 to 7 times a week. i am in an advanced physical conditioning class and i have no problem running or lifting weights. i am pretty into lifting weights and it hasnt had any effect on my abilities. i can assure you the damage is no where near cigarettes b/c i used to smoke half pack a day for a like 6 months and i dided jsut jogging places. this was my reason to quit. fuck cigs.
see the only time it really bothers me is if i run full speed for long periods of time other wise im fine like i can sprint easily and i can run and jog forever but if i do it at top speed for a long time i start to have a hard time breathing i think it mite also have alot to do with me having asthma and being out of shape bcuz ive started to do very hard conditioning and its just started to become a noticeble problem when we run full speed for long distances but after thinking about it ive been like this with long distaance running since b4 i smoke herb but thank you all for the input and more on health and sports and other related factores with smoking herb would be appreciated one love
just do it once in a while (any more than 3 times a week is too much imo) and you should be fine. it does cause lots of lung problems and i know for a fact that it will affect your fitness. back in october and november when i was buying ounces every weekend i would get out of breath just from running down the block. i'd also cough a whole lot, and a shit load of food and sit on my ass all day. now i smoke weed about twice a week or less and i've noticed a huge improvement in my health. so basically, if you give a shit about your health than don't smoke more than 3 times a week.
when i said i smoke 2 to 7 times a week i didnt mean i fuckin smoke 2 O's in that week. i make a quad last 2 weeks probably so its not like im smoking a lot.
before i got arrested i would walk for miles and miles hiking and chillin in the woods that boarders delaware, pa, and maryland just tokin away. does it affect your health? yes everything affects your health is it in a bad way? who knows there are so many bias researchers out there that are funded by the government trying to make it look bad and then "hippy" researchers that are trying to make it look like Gods gift to mortals. there is however good research material out there all you have to do is look. i know it helps asthma, people with cancer (helps give them an appetite) and i never took my "adhd" meds because i don't trust meds, so instead i smoked up and yea it helped calm me down a lil did it impare my focus no. that was because i was motivated. if you smoke because your real bored or need an excuse to skip out on doing school work then your unmotivated hense it "impares" your focus. (just some thing i got out of group.)
^i doubt that it helps people with lung cancer. i know it kills old dying cells, but i'm pretty sure it would worsen the cancer and not make it better. does anyone got a link to this?
that's what i read, i didnt say it helps cancer i said it helps build their appetite.. jeez.. i always find that i have to repeat myself.. when you have cancer you undergo chemo that makes you lose your appetite which makes your body lose nutrients that you body need to continue making new cells inorder to do this you need alot of nutrients to make atp which is the process that sustains life. without the right amount of nutirents the body can't make atp fast enough which means that the necessary amount of energy (atp) for chemical reactions to make cells isnt working properly. bottom line you need to eat. it's common sense.. i hope that was elaborate enough.. not being sarcastic but it seems as though that is how i have to explain everything..
you made perfect sense to me. yeha i hate when people dont read the details. its called fuckin listen the first god damn time!!
thanks read the article and looks like it does more than just increase the appitite =) i'll have to look more into it and get more opinions before i adapt it ^_^ yay for THC!
ya it might. i read the article, but there's so many bullshit articles out there. it might be bias it might not be, who knows.
The THC MIGHT, but the smoke is cancerous for SURE, it has many of the same effects as tobacco smoke, but is slightly less dangerous(tobacco itself is cancerous whereas mj isnt, and you get some other diseases specfically because of tobacco). "Cannabis smoke contains numerous carcinogens;[75].[76][77] In 2008 a study was released by the Medical Research Institute of New Zealand which showed that smoking cannabis increased the risk of lung cancer by 5.7 times over non-smokers" "Like tobacco smoke, cannabis smoke contains tars which are rich in carcinogenic polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, which are a prime culprit in smoking-related cancers. However, cannabinoids themselves are not carcinogenic. An obvious way to protect smokers' health is therefore to minimize the content of smoke tars relative to cannabinoids." "The effects of tobacco and cannabis smoking differ, however, as they affect different parts of the respiratory tract: whereas tobacco tends to penetrate to the smaller, peripheral passageways of the lungs, cannabis tends to concentrate on the larger, central passageways. One consequence of this is that cannabis, unlike tobacco, does not appear to cause emphysema," it also has a negative effect on the heart, small partciles absorbed through the lungs go into the blood/heart, also carbon monoxide levels rise causing your heart to beat faster to conpensate=higher blood pressure, which won't really cause instant death isn't good for overall health, not really good for people who work out as it somewhat restricts blood flow thereby obviously decreasing the body's ability to deliver oxygen to the muscles
^i heard that on the radio this morning, which is why i now refuse to believe any article on the internet about weed. all of them contradict the other ones, and until there's proof it's all bullshit in my eyes.
Well tar causes cancer, mj smoke contains relatively large amount of tar, therefore we can conclude that mj SMOKE will promote cancerous growth( doesn't mean you will get cancer just a higher risk than a non-smoker) and w00t for your 1000th post
You can always check who's doing the studies. The one I posted was done at Harvard, which is close to as reputable as you're going to find. I would never doubt that it's bad for your lungs, but I have heard that studies like the one above that say it's X times more cancerous based on the fact that it has X times as many carcinogens. I won't believe anything until I see a few more studies that actually... wait! Damn! I had a link to a big study that reviewed thousands of cancer patients found it: http://www.webmd.com/lung-cancer/news/20060523/pot-smoking-not-linked-to-lung-cancer
