Not stayed at those particular hotels.
But I recommend you take a look at the link below
    http://www.channels.nl/
It has a very active Amsterdam forum for such questions
together with a decent knowledge base where you can
research most decent hotels and their ratings, etc.
    Hope this helps:)

Blimey, that surprises me, I can't believe that.
Have you accessed the forum and asked people in there.?
I know for a fact several members have stayed at the
hotels you talk of. Also, was there nothing in the knowledge
base of use.? Usually if you type in the Hotel your interested
in using Google but putting the word ''REVIEW'' before the
hotel name, seems to help I find.

Sometimes I've found the Channels forum superb for info
regarding Amsterdam, no doubt about it. You may have
just caught an off day in there or more than likely the
person with the particular experience one is looking for is
bored with replying with the same answers, it happens,
    don't take offence to it.

As far as the Greenhouse is concerned, their bud is very
good, however as far as I know the hotel part is in
Warmoesstraat street which can be ultra busy day &
night especially if you have a room overlooking the
street, so be prepared for lots of pedestrian street noise.
Luckily no traffic or trams use this street apart from
street cleaning machines and beer lorries in the morning.
Also you are very close to 1 or 2 chuches and the bell
ringing can sometimes be relentless at times first thing.

All in all, imo, I think the Greenhouse is overpriced.
I think they have a themed decor for each room if I
remember correctly. Believe me there are many other
hotels to choose from for less, but I'm sure you'll have
a great time wherever you end up.
    Enjoy:)

you might try the reviews section at channels.nl ...use the A to Z button on the left to find them.

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowForum-g188553-i58-The_Netherlands.html ...also has even more hotel reviews. Click on the hotel tab at top and sort by centre and hotel name to find your choices faster.

Of the four hotels I'd group three of them together as being right in the thick of things which to me means party places noisey 24 hours a day (I'm a light sleeper) and grubby. But the Rho is in a different neighborhood although it's only a couple of blocks from the others. If you choose the Rho ask for a room away from Damstraat for peace and quiet.

    hi,

i stayed in "stayok" (near the vangogh museum) hostels, because we couldnt find another,
it was little nerdy but was a very nice hostel
walking distance is ok (15 minute to dam square)
lot of nice places around too
a friendly, kinda cheap, clean good hostel etc...

If you're staying for 3 days or more, check these links out. These are great deals if you have a couple of people to split costs with.

    www.citymundo.com
    www.frederic.nl

They are apartments and houseboats. As cheap as hotel if played right. I have used both and can recommend them highly.
