Anyone have any opinions on this? Any ideas or theorys? "Horse with No Name" is a great stoner song sung by America i believe. For years i have searched for meaning of this song. Listen to it while ur high, you'll feel connected. Another great, but weird, song like this is The Unicorn Song by Peter, Paul and Mary - another great hippy/pot smoking band.
Horse with no name is about heroin. I love that song and always turn it to the station that plays it on GTA: San Andreas.
James Taylor was always one of my favorites. One question though,... why isn't this in the Music forum? We have forums and forum descriptions for a reason. It's like having a sock droor and using it for shirts, it would be fine if it was your droor, you could do with it what you like, but this is a collective droor, if you will, and you're cluttering it up when it need not be cluttered. The site is organized for a reason. Besides that, you'll get a lot more musically inclined responses from musically inclined people in the music forum.
maybe he asked it cuz its a drug song. besides im gettin sick of all these threads stickin at the top. i try bringing some oldies back but they jsut get bumped back down.
Probably one of the most highly debated song meanings ever is stairway to heaven and its also the most played song on the radio ever. Its really funny that so many people listen to the song and have no idea what it means. Im not claiming I know exactly what it means because no one does that ive seen. A lot of people think its about heroin which is completely wrong because there are referances in the song which have nothing to do with heroin but other things.
are you talking about "horse with no name" or "stairway to heaven" when you said its not about heroin? I heard horse with no name was about heroin from my mom. I dont liek that song cuz its about heroin( will never ever have anything to do with that) i like it cuz its a really catchy tune. but yeah which song are talking about? and I'd be interested in hearing your interpretation of stairway to heaven?
I don't know about either of those songs, but I know the Eagles' song "Hotel California" is about addiction. The hotel is addiction, how you're trapped in it. Think about that when you listen to it next time: "some dance to remember, some dance to forget" "they stab it with their steely knives but they just can't kill the beast" "You can check out any time you want but you can never leave" Great song. Anyways, here's the lyrics for America's "Horse with No Name", just so we know what we're talkin about. On the first part of the journey I was looking at all the life There were plants and birds and rocks and things There was sand and hills and rings The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz And the sky with no clouds The heat was hot and the ground was dry But the air was full of sound I've been through the desert on a horse with no name It felt good to be out of the rain In the desert you can remember your name 'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain La, la ... After two days in the desert sun My skin began to turn red After three days in the desert fun I was looking at a river bed And the story it told of a river that flowed Made me sad to think it was dead You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name It felt good to be out of the rain In the desert you can remember your name 'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain La, la ... After nine days I let the horse run free 'Cause the desert had turned to sea There were plants and birds and rocks and things there was sand and hills and rings The ocean is a desert with it's life underground And a perfect disguise above Under the cities lies a heart made of ground But the humans will give no love You see I've been through the desert on a horse with no name It felt good to be out of the rain In the desert you can remember your name 'Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain La, la ...
