Hi, y'all. I signed up to this forum because of my awful, movie-length horror show that my mind decided to show me last night. I'd like to know what the fuck it means and what I can do about it. It's been haunting me all day and I suspect that it will haunt me forever. Yeah, it was THAT bad. I was unable to move and lying on a steel table. I was in a black room that was endless. This room had pillars which were spaced apart about one every ten feet. These pillars went up into the endless space that was the room. They disappeared below an unseen floor that seemed to support the table I was on. I was, basically, on a table, in space, without stars but pillars. I could only move my eyes and I glanced to my right and saw a twenty foot tall muscular man with the head of a cobra (ever seen Dreamscape? yeah). This cobra-man didn't walk but he flitted from here to there. His gaze never left mine as I watched him and always knew where he'd flit next. He cleched his fist and his veins bulged as he'd eyeball me between his movements. His movements always advancing toewards me. Eventually, he got to my side and I tried to scream in terror, all I could manage was a very weak, "gggooooddd!!!" Cobraman then opened his mouth and slowly started to swallow me. I watched in horror as his jaws overcame my site. I saw his fangs pass by. I saw myself sliding down his throat until I reached his belly. Upon reaching his stomach, I saw through his eyes... my own headless body on that table. Hang on... it get's worse!!!!!!!! Suddenly, I was whole again and, once again, immobilized on the steel table in the middle of black space with marble pillars. It started to rain in this space. Not water.... but BLOOD!!! You know those glasses that you get for 3d movies? The ones that have a red and blue lens? My vision switched into red... as if looking through one of those red lenses. The sound of the rain was deafeningly LOUD! Then, I saw her. She was directly above me and floated down with an almost serenity that would make her seem angelic if it weren't for the blood and the music she heralded! Imagine a cross between the wildest jazz you've ever heard combined with the heaviest metal ever. If I could recreate her music, I'd be famous! The music got louder and the sound of the rain softened as she descended upon me. Slowly, she floated down to me and her music got louder and the rain got softer. She was gorgeous. She was the most beautiful girl I've ever seen, with the most perfect body... with green wings. As she got to me the rain had stopped and her mujsic was flowing full force and LOUD! I still could not move but she began taking me into her body. Smiling as she did so. I woke up at that point... with a raging hard-on but terrified. Strange combination, I know! My erection disappeared almost immediately as I turned on the light, lit a smoke, and watched TV for a while as I contemplated..."What...the...fuck???!!!" So, y'all... what... the... fuck?!
Wow, that sounds like a cool dream, albeit terrifying. Couple questions first, how old are you and have you had any similar dreams in the past that you can recall? Age doesn't really matter, I was just curious. The paralysis you experienced was brought on by what the brain does while we sleep, it paralyzes us to a degree so we don't move around and injure ourselves while asleep. Sometimes people can be dreaming and totally coherent, yet the immobilized sensation can cause anxiety. I dunno about the pillars and steel table. But, the cobra-man is clearly a representation of your instinctual drives, a part of you mind, an aspect of yourself. He has the head of a snake, but the body of a human. This should let you know that this character is human but intellectually it is primitive, like a reptile. Physiologically, this is your dream self coming into contact with the brain stem, the part of your brain responsible for autonomous functions (breathing, pain control, heart rhythm). Some psychologists have dubbed it the "reptilian brain" hence why he had a cobra head. The good news is that even though he ate you, it may represent that you have come to terms with this force. Although still frightened of it, after you were consumed, you were looking through his eyes. It showed you the lower half of your body, everything from the neck down, basically showing you what that character represents physically. Even though this character was daunting and primitive, it was merely trying to improve your relations with it. Until you no longer address it with fear and anxiety, it may continue to show up and cause you stress. As for the rain of blood. Was it light blood or dark blood? Did a feeling of terror come over you the whole time or was it like an disillusioned eerie feel to it? Sometimes blood can represent a connection with humanity or is felt as a link with the unconscious forces and subpersonalities within. Clearly preceding the woman figure and slowly dying off as she approached. Music is a very strong indicator of feelings. It's a good way for the mind to describe feelings without using words or pictures. Most likely, the beautiful woman represents your Anima. The feminine structure in the male mind. Women have a masculine structure called the Animus. If everyone's mind did not encompass both male and female attributes, then we would fail to be human. A lot of guys violently protest to having any feminine qualities and this is where hateful stereotypical mindsets originate like homophobia. Anyways, I kinda went off on a tangent there. I've had a couple dreams that put me on edge as well, nearly waking up with a cold sweat like I saw a ghost. There's my .02 cents. Also, it probably wouldn't be a bad idea to quit smoking, just a thought. The mind can have ways of hinting to you that it doesn't like what you're doing to it. I hope your dreams in the future are better.
Thanks for the reply and I apologize for the incredible lateness in my response. I'm really bad about responding, even when I'm truly interested (like now). I promise to be better next time around Anyway, I'm 35 and I usually only have nightmares of such incredible magnitude and so utterly bizarre, intense and vivid, maybe 2 or 3 times a year before "discovering" my little dream recipe (you'll see). I'm actually a big fan of nightmares as they seem, to me, to be little horror movies, written and directed by you, and they are ACTUALLY scary (unlike that Hollywood crap that they try and pass off as "scary" these days)! I had that particular nightmare using my own little "dream recipe" that I sort of discovered by complete accident. I began to notice, about 8 or 9 months ago that if I take about 1 or 2mg of Melatonin AND one of those little blue Unisom tabs (the Doxylamine Succinate - NOT Diphenhydramine), that my dreams are incredibly vivd and strange... and almost always wonderful... even the terrifying ones. I've told a few others about my recipe, and the ones who've tried it as well, never quite seem to have the same reaction as I do. My cousin, however, did tell me that when it does work for him, it works extremely well. I did have another, absolutely horrifying nightmare about 3 or 4 weeks ago that, I think, rivals this one. It was also VERY long. It started out terrifying, the terror only intensifying as it went on, then shifted into something a little (errr... actually A LOT!) more surreal and then ended (seemingly) on something so completely bizarre that words can't even begin to describe it. The BEST part (and I shit-you-not - I swear to God that this is no lie or exagerration) was that the dream was a nightmare INSIDE a nightmare. I "woke up" from the dream only to find myself back at the very beginning of the dream... with everything that happened at the start of the nightmare beginning to happen in reality, which was utterly soul-chilling as I'm sure you can imagine! Luckily (I suppose) was that I woke up shortly thereafter. I've probably only had 2 or 3 other dreams before that were dreams within dreams. Has anyone else ever experienced that? I'm actually quite curious to know how common it is to have dreams inside dreamsand if there some kind of technical name for it. I found myself exhilirated by this new little gem from the mind, and, of course, spooked all to hell. And, once again, wishing like hell that there were some kind of "dream recorder". Who doesn't wish for such a thing? If you, or anyone else is interested, I can describe this newest mental horror show of mine in as much detail as possible. But, of course, some things just can't be put into adequate words... but, I'll damn sure try! =] Once again, thanks for you reply and your interpretation. I'm usually pretty good at deciphering my own dreams, but that one really stumped me. Your interpretation seemed to be right on the money, too! I know that I probably went against some kind of rule here and I'm aware that one typically "lurks moar" before just diving right in, and I apologize for that... but I just HAD to get that beauty off my chest :cheers2:
Darkness and blood are not good omens as blood usually connotes sickness and darkness connotes depression. The pillar would seem to be a timing device, as if you will be in a deep depression for quite a long while, perhaps weeks, months or years. Your being unable to move means that you will be powerless to affect your situation. Rain usually means a period of depression but since it was raining blood it probably means that you will have re-occurring illnesses. Not having a floor may indicate that you won't have any foundation, no clear footing to understand what is going on and why you are going through these trials. Green also usually connotes sickness, especially if someone you know is wearing it. Her seductive power may be a warning to not be tempted to do something illegal or immoral, like adultery. The first question to ask is whether they were movie images, even though the subconscious can access any memory to create its imagery. If it was because of a movie you had seen two hours before then dismiss the dream due to the mind emptying itself of garbage. If it is a warning dream - what are you going to do now that you know that it is coming?
I love doom & gloom. Thanks for that dose, White Feather. Actually, it's funny that you mention the whole movie thing because, the same night that I had had that dream, I had put Hellreaiser II on. I promptly fell asleep before anything really "scary" happened. In fact, I even turned the volume down since I can only sleep to white noise and hate to be woken up by fucking Billy Mays or a movie that I forgot to turn down. Anyway, my father suffers from such horrible depression that I can't even begin to understand that I often mock him to other family who despise his depression. No, I'm not depressed or sick. I'm actually quite fit, as my job works out my muscles and gives me intense cardio for several hours a day. I often find it hard to sleep because I'm so buzzed with energy. I can never shut my brain up and make it make me sleep. While I enjoy horror movies and the heaviest of heavy metal (Electric Wizard FTW!), I just can't accept your interpretation, White Feather. I'll let you know if I come down with Lupus or if I commit suicide or something.
