Assess the contribution of interactionism to an understanding of social life. Any ideas? It's a fourty mark question
Ouch... um, I don't think I'm the person to help. . Have you tried out wikipedia? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interactionism Good luck.
www.atss.org.uk www.sociology.org.uk http://www.sociology.org.uk/tmint.doc You need to talk about... micro approach symbolic interactionism (George Herbert Mead) meanings and interpretation (I'm sure you've been given key words) Structure: INTRO - introduce idea that interactionism is a theory conflicting with structuralism etc, name a couple of sociologists to do with it MAIN BIT - at least 4 theories/theorists and how this has contributed to sociology. Make sure there are a couple of contemporary examples of it in there somewhere. CRITICISMS - what other sociologists have said about it and why they think it's crap. CONCLUSION - talk about the benefits of the theory and how it's aided social life and possibly laws, changes in public opinions etc. Refer back to the question whatever you do! Yehhh, have fun with that. Hope that helps, I just spent at least five minutes writing that! P.S. It's not about writing forty arguments, it's about pluses, minuses, other theories as well as interactionism, contemporary examples, synoptic links and examples.
