I would get Spybot Search & Destroy here... It will find the Spyware on you're computer and remove it. After doing that then open you're explorer and go to Tools\Internet Options\ and put in the home page you want.. Spybot Search and Destroy should keep you for getting this stuff on you're computer also. Also for the overly parinoid I would get WinPatrol, it's a program that checks spots in the windows registry that worms, adware, spyware , etc are known to attach it's self. It also will ask you any time you download/install a program if you want this program on you're computer, if not it will remove it for you.. =D

I got a wierd one fer me, evertime I try and go to www.dogpile.com at work it redirects me to www.ownbox.com with one of them stupid " you have won a virtual casino suite" or some shit boxes. If you click "x" or "cancel" it redirects you to www.usseek.com . I never tried to accept it..... Its a at a computer at work however. I dont have administrator priveledges so I cant install anything to try and fight it. I was able to run the stinger tool, klez worm remover, and the bug bear remover tools from floppys, but that warnt the problems. anywhere you can scan for spyware or viruses without actually installing a program?

Unfortunately, IE uses activeX controls that are supposed to give it more capabilities, but this has just been exploited by hackers and spyware. If you want's a more permanent solution, jump on the alternative browser bandwagon.
Most are, not faster, to say, but more efficient. Most also have great functions like pop-up blocking, ad-blocking, and tabbed browsing.
    http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/
Mozilla FireFox(which I use) has(I think) over one-hundred extension to add functionality to the browser without weighing it down.
    http://www.opera.com/
Opera is another good browser that supports mouse gestures to browse easier(there is an extension to enable this in Mozilla browsers).
These are just a few of the bigger names in free browsers. But if you choose to stay with IE, run Spybot often, and update it often as well.
