This recipe will turn you into a fan of egg nog, particularly if you've had what is sold in cartons in stores during the holidays. Separate six eggs, whip the whites in a tall bowl until still (like meringue). Set aside. Add 1 c sugar and 2 pt. heavy whipping cream to yellows. Beat approx. 5 minutes until very thick and foamy. Add 4 c milk and 1 c rum (can substitute rum flavoring - add one more cup milk). Beat approx. 5 minutes until very foamy. Fold in egg whites. Garnish with nutmeg, either in serving bowl or in individual cups. Makes about 1 gallon. This recipe will be very thick and I recommend furnishing a spoon to allow people to get every delicious drop.
