Hitman: Agent 47 Movie Blurb by Shale August 21, 2015 Let me dig out one of my movie blurb axioms. "I Enjoy Bad Movies." Two weeks ago I wrote that I enjoyed The Fantastic 4 reboot and yet only 8% of the aggregate critics liked it. Today I enjoyed this movie and again only 8% of the critics like it. Seems to be a pattern here. Obviously, something is wrong with 92% of professional critics. At least 59% of audiences enjoyed this movie as did I. And, I am so out of touch with stuff I didn't realize this was based on a video game called Hitman. There isn't much that I can reveal about this movie because I was a little lost as to what was going down and it was designed that way. So rather than spoil it for those few who really want to see movie, the rest of you just won't know anything unless you see it too. There is a little setup that explains the genetically engineered hitmen assassins who had enhanced abilities and diminished fear or empathy. Close to being a cyborg terminator. We soon find out that Agent 47 (Rupert Friend) is such a hitman. Hitman Killing Multiple Assailants with 2 Guns His target appears to be a young woman Katia van Dees (Hannah Ware), who also shows signs of some enhanced senses of her own, tho she is taking psychotropic meds to control it. A stranger approaches her and offers his help, which she is skeptical of until a few encounters with Agent 47. He eventually tells her his name is John Smith (Zachary Quinto) and we learn that he is from an opposing agency. John Bandages Katia on the Run They elude Agent 47 for a while but he is unstoppable and more confrontations occur. Hitman Hits John John and Katia even take refuge in a highly guarded U.S. Embassy, just to find that Agent 47 gets himself thrown into the interrogation room, cuffed to a table. We have seen this scene before, where highly advanced ppl manage to literally turn the table and free themselves in such situations. Agent 47 in Interrogation OK, maybe that's what the critics didn't like. Still, I did not think the movie was so bad, it was entertaining and as I look back after learning it is based on a video game, I can see the grafic blood spatters and hear the audio thunk of falling bodies hitting stair rails in a whole new light. Yeah, this movie is rated R for violence.
I have not played any Hitman game from begin to end but it just happens to be so I played one of the latest (Hitman: Absolution) last week! Coincidence
It doesn't appeal to me at all, but I can't say anything with certainty either of course as I didn't watch the movie. In other movies agent 47 used to be played by Timothy OIyphant. Also a quirky choice perhaps but maybe I am just used to that actor.
Yeah, I knew nothing of the history of this game/movie but came across the Olyphant DVD cheap so I got it (Love Olyphant in most movies) It was as good as this one.
