i dont think so. we get lots of hitchers in these parts. my hubby often picks people up--he has a long commute and it makes his drive more interesting.
I live in Ohio. I've never done it myself, but if I'm on a roadtrip, I will usually pick up a hitcher. They've always been cool. Some have even given me $.
Hitchikers, in my experience, are always really cool. We used to pick them up when I was young (when my parents were strung out and shit) and they were always really cool. Shit, try it some day. People are more kind than you'd expect.
you cant judge a book by it's cover. just be cautious, but dont be an uptight creep. just be cool. just chill. the lot of them are probably pretty rad.
I'll be sure to do that. I'm kinda weary of them, but I live in Phoenix.. I'm sure it really depends on where you live, but I think it'd be awesome to pick people up and find out about them- it would definitely make a trip more fun
hitchiking is comunism in life! Sure, you MUST take hitchhikers in the name of love! I hitchiked through europe for like 3 weeks, and it is so beautiful, when somebody stops and smiles, you know, and asks where to and stuff, it's beautiful! And you can sometimes get really pissed if nobody stops for a long time. The worst times are when you're thumbing in the dark time of the day and then you freeze your ass off for those 12 or something hours and nobody stops.. not good. Come on, share your privilages, there is no such thing as a spare seat! If there is a seat, somebody should be sitting there!
Watch the first one, because it's a great movie. But stay away from The Hitcher 2, because it's one of the worst movies ever made. I read a book called Hitchhiker's Guide to Japan, and he made it seem like the Japanese were mostly cool with it. I have a car, so I won't be hitchhiking much in the US, but the next time I'm in Japan (probably this summer) I'll definately be thumbing some rides.
anyone who lives in my town hitchhikes. its all good. its actually how i'm getting home from school this week. a guy i met got picked up a few weeks ago and the old guy who was driving gave him a twenty and told him to have a nice night. it was weird cause he doesn't look in need of money.
AHhahaha cool you mention hitchhiking, because today was my first succesful trip from amsterdam to enschede (200km). It was cool and when you are tired of standing you can always roll a joint in the grass. You can do this always, but just be careful and make a plate/sign with your destitation.. most people here have a mobile phone and a healthy brain, so it will be cool. (take chewing gum/ some peppermint or something sweet)
If you give this man a ride sweet family will die, killer on the road... haha, sorry. reminded me of that song.. eh anyway, i wouldn't do it in the US. just cause everyone in the US is mean ya know. but that's just me, i don't actually have any experience.
