That's right! For those of you who don't know, Holly (Hippyfreek2004) and I are expecting a baby. I figured I should make a comment in here as we both have UK friends who don't travel outside of the UK forum. We were a bit freaked out at first, but now that we've had a little time to think about it, we're both very excited about the arrival of our little Hippysphere. We will be keeping everyone updated as the pregnancy progresses. In the meantime, if anyone has any advice, warnings, helpful hints, etc., they would be appreciated. Especially advice from new fathers. Holly's getting plenty of advice, but no one seems to have a lot to say for expecting dads. This is my first child and I have to admit that I'm a bit nervous, but excited all the same. Anyway, that's the story so far. we hope to get over to the UK sometime after the baby comes along to introduce you all to her/him. Love, Mono
oh wow.. thats great... Now for the lady... first 3 months survival kit.. bottles of coke, sea sickness bands and ginger everything and peppermint tea :H
Congrats Holly, I am sure you two will make great parents. Peace, Amy Katherine - Have you guys thought of any names yet, and if so which ones?
If it's a boy, we are thinking of naming him Declan. Not completely sure about the middle name, but Holly likes Christopher. As for a girl, that's a bit tougher. Chloe is a consideration. I also like Maire, but Holly's not too sure of that one. I have to admit, I'm not too big on using an overly popular name, nor will I name my kid a Jr. I do like the Irish names, that's for sure. But that's because all of the guys on my dad's side have Irish or Catholic names. Kinda want to carry the tradition since I'm the only one carrying on the name.
*clarifying for anyone under the impression of anything different: Despite all of my fears and insecurities surrounding this pregnancy, I'm KEEPING this baby. I repeat, I am KEEPING this baby. Thank you* As far as names, I know that Brian wants Irish or Catholic names for first names, and I think that's great. Totally agree. But I also want southern middle names, because I am after all southern and that's the biggest part of my heritage. So for middle names (for only girls, so far): Annabelle or Novella. Subtle and southern.
My Niece is called Chloe and shes incredibly cute, at 10 months she now looks like a proper little person. I saw her today and I'm very excited. Congrats though.
If you're going for Maire, you might as well do it properly and call it Mairéad. oh and don't forgt the dierisis on Chloë. Holly, word of advice. If you are keeping this baby, then it's only fair to put the baby first, you can't then decide you want a life as well, as that'll be a RIGHT kerfuffle as Lou woud say. If you're going to do this, do it properly, no excuses, no taking risks with it's early development just because you want a degree. Can't have your bottle full AND your wife drunk. So if you're going to bring up a child, you're going to have to syop your education and be there 100% for it. Don't want it seduced by the darkside, I'd never forgive you if a future Rs legend turned into a Chav, or worse, a Chelsea fan.
Ben, do you really doubt that I would make this baby number one in my life? I don't think I could forgive myself if I didn't do what was best for this baby in any situation. And if getting my education will be harmful for my child, I'll wait. But remember that this baby has a father too. I can still get away for just a few hours at a time to take classes and finish my degree. It is possible. And don't worry. I think between you and I, this poor kid will be an Rs fan if it kills us
between you and I? Firstly it should be between you and me (you don't say between we now, do you? ). And secondly i want the whole world to know if it's an R!
For f**** sake, I thought "Get thee to the kitchen wench" died out with the dark ages. Do not doubt the fact you can have an existence other than motherhood, it will be very time and emotionaly consuming, but you can study with the assistance of partners and friends. And there's only one team to aspire to and thats West Ham United.
Congratulations so much for the both of you! Wheee, a Hipforums baby! *nods* If you put a lot of thought and planning into it, you can do pretty much whatever you want to. I know plenty of people who've managed it with the right support.
