So how come there are two different ways of spelling it anyways? And why does "hippie" seem to be the prefered spelling?

From previous experiances, and my for purposes of refering to my screenname on aim, I beleive the spelling is hippie. Perhaps we could have a toke off, winner chooses spelling?

I always use Hippie and relate it to Yippie... maybe I'm just making unneccessary comparisons, I don't know.
