I'm PLANNING to ATTEND "HIPPIEFEST" (2008) at the "DTE Energy Music Theatre" (in CLARKSTON, MI)!!! I might just BUY a "LAWN SEAT" for $10. I could be WEARING (or "CARRYING") a WOODSTOCK - BLUE JEANS JACKET (with the WOODSTOCK 1969 "LOGO" of the GUITAR and WHITE DOVE on the BACKSIDE)!!! i would go when they come to pompano beach, i actually wanted to. But the only thing stoping me is the fact that it is in an ampitheater that is all bleacher style chairs around a stage. I would much rather be on an open feild.

A LOCAL DETROIT FM RADIO STATION - WCSX - 94.7 FM STEREO - has been ADVERTISING the "HIPPIEFEST 2008 TOUR" a lot RECENTLY (as they are a LOCAL "OLDIES" FM RADIO STATION, who cater to the "HIPPY GENERATION"). WCSX - 94.7 FM mentioned the following BANDS, who are going to PERFORM at the DTE ENERGY MUSIC THEATER ("PINEKNOB") TONIGHT at 7:00 PM: JACK BRUCE of "CREAM", ERIC BURDEN and "THE ANIMALS", BADFINGER (Featuring JOEY MULLARD), MELANIE and TERRY SYLVESTER (Formely of "THE HOLLIES").

I bought my "HIPPIEFEST 2008" TICKET (from: "ticketmaster", located by the "PACKAGE PICK-UP" AREA of a LOCAL "MACY'S" DEPARTMENT STORE), so I'm PLANNING to ATTEND "HIPPIEFEST 2008 " TONIGHT (7:00 PM) at the "DTE ENERGY MUSIC THEATRE". "MELANIE" still REMEMBERS the ORIGINAL, older "PINEKNOB" name for the "DTE ENERGY MUSIC THEATRE" - AMPHITHEATER, as she PERFORMED there in the 1970's!!!

The WEATHER is supposed to be good TONIGHT (by CLARKSTON, MICHIGAN), with TEMPERATURES in the low 80,s, and supposedly NO RAIN!!! DTE ENERGY MUSIC THEATRE has a "RAIN OR SHINE" POLICY, so if it RAINS for "LAWN SEAT" TICKET HOLDERS, then THEY can "FROLIC" in the MUD (just like at the ORIGINAL "WOODSTOCK 1969")!!!

In SPEED READING, only "KEY WORDS" are "EMPHASIZED", for the MIND to ABSORB, so I UTILIZE these TECHNIQUES for FASTER INFORMATION ABSORPTION into my MIND. I can TYPE in this STYLE "AUTOMATICALY"!!! It WORKS for ME!!! MAYBE NOT for OTHERS!!!

The 22nd (and final) HIPPIEFEST 2008 Tour stop was at the "Pompano Beach Amphitheater", in Pompano Beach, Florida (on: August 10, 2008 - Sunday). Luckily, I was able to attend the Detroit HIPPIEFEST 2008 Tour stop (in Clarkston, Michigan, at the "DTE Energy Music Theatre" - "Pineknob") on August 2, 2008 (Saturday) and I enjoyed it very much!!!

I will comment on my experiences at the Clarkston, Michigan HIPPIEFEST 2008 Tour stop and give my "review" of it, in the following post of mine. Did any "hippy.com-ers" go to any other of the HIPPIEFEST 2008 TOUR stops? I'd like to know your experiences there, plus what your concert venue (amphitheater) is like?

In Michigan, the "DTE Energy Music Theatre" - "Pineknob" (in Clarkston, MI) is the best amphitheater in Michigan, plus one of the top amphitheaters in the USA (as far as SALES, its beautiful landscaping (with color-lighted waterfalls and the "Starlite" Gourmet Restaurant) and how it "operations" are run), plus many of the HIPPIEFEST 2008 band performers enjoy the "interactive", somewhat "looser" (and sometimes "rowdy") DETROIT audiences. Just having FUN!!!

I have an old High School friend (who works in Los Angeles, CA and who just recently called me), who read an internet review of the Los Angeles, CA - HIPPIFEST 2008 Tour stop and it stated that "audience participation" was rated as LOW from the performers (who performed there). The HIPPIEFEST Website (www.hippiefest.net) has its "forum" there, for participant ("audience") feedback - "Message Boards" (www.instantmessageboards.com/viewforum.php?f=71766 ).

WE (as a society) are "programmed" from birth, to think and act in a certain "pre-programmed" way (through "social engineering"), or what could be called "The Matrix" (similar to the popular movie). The word "HOLLYWOOD" (as in Hollywood, California) is derived from the WOOD from the HOLLY tree, which was the specific wood used by DRUID Priests (of CELTIC origin) to create their "Magic Wands" (of which to cast "spells")!!! As far as my "SPEED READING" typing style, it is very LOGICAL, but since it interferes with my communications, generates too many "off-topic" posts (and is not "approved" by the majority of "hipforums" posters), I'll try to switch back to the more conventional ("standardized") typing style. Concentrate on the message (and not the medium)!!!

People just love to be "comfy" and "lazy" living in "THE MATRIX". I don't like to "imprison" myself in "The Matrix"!!! The truth shall set you free!!!

There is an excellant article in the May 2008 Issue of "UFO" Magazine entitled: "The Magic of Society - Jordan Maxwell, By Bret Lueder", Pg. 59 (UFO Magazine: www.ufomag.com/contents/contents23/contents23.4.html ), which discusses "The Matrix" that we live in, controlled by BEINGS (alien, ultra-dimensional and/or human?) who use occult powers and symbols to "brain-wash" us into "imprisoning" ourselves, so that our "energies" can feed them. Or do we create our own reality, so we utilize "Saturnian Energies" to create "hardships" for us, to force us to "spiritually evolve", because humans are basically driven to seek stagnant "comfort zones" (of which to reside)??? Jordan Maxwell brings up these philosophical points.

I'm sorry to hear that you missed JACK BRUCE's ("dude from Cream") performance at the TORONTO HIPPIFEST 2008 Tour stop, as he performed a phenomenial "set" of his tunes here at the CLARKSTON, MICHIGAN - HIPPIEFEST 2008 Tour stop!!! He was the best!!! His "energetic" PSYCHEDELIC guitar rifts actually opened up my head CHAKRA, and sent "shivers down my spine"!!! AWESOME!!! ERIC BURDEN and the ANIMALS put out an equally impressive show!!!

I don't expect many "young hippies" to understand my +40 years of research in "esoteric" subjects, but some do understand!!! You must research things for yourself (for you to believe what may be "The TRUTH"), or you may just chose to "imprison" yourself further into "The Matrix" (so whatever beings can live off of your "energies")!!! The choice is yours to make!!! Spiritual freedom or become just a "battery" of "The Matrix"!!!

- GRANNIES GONE WILD!!! -

GRANNIES GONE WILD!!! (GRANDPAS, TOO!!!) is what I like to call HIPPIEFESTS!!! Why? Because it seems like the HIPPIEFEST Tour is mostly orienatated toward us old hippies, although they have their share of wild young hippies, as well!!! Young hippies add "spice"!!! However, some of those old hippies can be even wilder!!!

- HIPPIEFEST 2008 TOUR - Clarkston, Michigan (Independence Twp., Michigan) at "DTE Energy Music Theatre" ("Pineknob"), Sashabaw Rd./I-75 EXIT (Northeast of Clarkston, MI and Northwest of Pontiac, MI) -

DTE ENERGY (our local power company) bought the "naming rights" for the old "Pineknob" Music Theatre", but "Palace Sports & Entertainment" owns the actual Amphitheater, which has won many HONORS and AWARDS (since their ownership)!!! Belle Tire sponsers the Concert Series.

HIPPIEFEST 2008 turned out far better than I had planned, which made it even more enjoyable for me!!!

Liuckily, August 2, 2008 was a beautiful day at the "DTE Energy Music Theatre" (DTE) - "Pineknob", with a nice sunny day (partly cloudy in the afternoon - "puffy" cumulus clouds) to a totally clear sky at nighttime. No rain!!! The temperatures were in the comfortable upper 70's (with a somewhat low humidity). It was a "cooler" summer day, but quite pleasant. The HIPPIEFEST 2008 band performers were quite happy with a "sunny, Michigan day"!!!

I usually plan on to get close to the "DTE Energy Music Theatre" about 3 hours before show time (which is usually about 4 PM (EDT), as HIPPIEFEST showtime is usually at 7 PM (EDT), and the DTE parking lot usually opens at about 4:30 PM (EDT)), so I that can eat a nice "personal pizza" at BENITO'S PIZZA for lunch, then get a good parking space in the "DTE Energy Music Theatre" parking lot. In the DTE parking lot (near one of the DTE entrance gates), there was a booth set-up with WCSX (94.7 fm-stereo/ Detroit), a local Detroit "OLDIES" radio station (who were heavily advertisng "HIPPIEFEST 2008").

I buy a souvenir "HIPPIEFEST" T-shirt as soon as the souvenir stand opens up (so I can have a good choice of styles, plus get the proper T-shirt size). I also enjoy talking with other HIPPIEFEST attendees, before showtime.

This year, I bought a black HIPPIEFEST 2008 T-shirt, which featured a picture of Janis Joplin on the front, with white flowers and a blue "op-art" pattern of lines surrounding Janis Joplin. The backside listed the cities that the HIPPIEFEST 2008 TOUR included. It costed $25. At the first HIPPIEFEST (Clarkston, MI - 2006), I bought the more expensive orange, "tie-dyed" shirt version, for $35!!! It featiured a VW "hippy" bus on the frontside and listed the HIPPIEFEST 2006 TOUR cities on the backside!!!

This year's HIPPIEFEST 2008 Master of Ceremonies (MC) was Terry Sylvester (of the "HOLLIES"). The first DETROIT-area HIPPIFEST (in 2006) featured WAVY GRAVY (alias "Hugh Romney") as the Master of Ceremonies (MC), who was the original WOODSTOCK 1969 clown (who helped "talk-down" hippies from their bad acid trips)!!! He still wears a big red-nose!!! His website is: www.wavygravy.net/ . Terry Sylvester (of the "HOLLIES") said that he was new to being an MC!!!

Terry Sylvester (of the "HOLLIES") played the first sets, with 3 classic Hollies' tunes:
- Carrie
- Long Cool Woman
- Bus Stop

Melanie played next (with her talented son), and performed her 3 most popular hits:
- Brand New Key
- What Have They Done To My Song, Ma
- Lay Down (Candles In The Rain)
She may have put on some weight over the years, and her voice is just a little "deeper" and "rougher", but she could still belt-out her hit songs, with a strong voice!!!

BADFINGER (featuring Joey Mollard) played their classic hits:
- Come and Get It
- Day After Day
- Baby Blue (One of my favorites.)

CREAM (Jack Bruce) had a very "energetic", "explosive" and psychedelic performance with a few of CREAM's hit songs;
- We're Going Wrong
- I Feel Free
- Badge
- Sunshine Of Your Love
- White Room

Jack Bruce's "extended" version of "White Room" was highly-energetic and deliciously "psychedelic", as I could just "taste" the colors, his ending guitar riffs actually opened up my head CHAKRA and I felt "shivers down my spine"!!! PSYCHEDELIC, man!!! The attending HIPPIEFEST crowd was also well impressed with Jack Bruce's exceptional guitar work!!!

Not to be outdone, Eric Burden and the Animals "closed-out" HIPPIEFEST 2008,by providing another "energetic" performance, with 4 of their many hit songs:
- Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood
- When I Was Young
- Sky Pilot
- House Of The Rising Sun
Eric Burden let the audience participate in some of his songs, which they did and at the end of one song, he hand-slapped the hands of the entire first row!!!

There was a giant projection screen behind the DTE band stage, which projected visual images, interacting with the given performer's songs. During Eric Burden and The Animals playing of "Sky Pilot", there were images of War Planes projected behind them. In the other ANIMAL's songs, there were visual images of Eric Burden, when he was young!!!

Just when you thought that HIPPIEFEST 2008 was over, the crowd shouted, "More!!!, More!!!" and Eric Burden and The Animals responded by playing 2 more "encore" hits:
- Paint It Black and
- Boom, Boom

The HIPPIEFEST 2008 performers were entertaining enough, but some of the HIPPIEFEST 2008 audience were just as entertaining!!! There are two TV CAMERMAN operating cameras near the ceilings of the DTE Amphitheatre roof (on each side), who mostly view the performers, but they sometimes "dolly in" to some "performing" audience member doing wild dances!!! One girl was sort of doing "jumping jacks" in front of her amphitheater seat!!! These camera images are projected onto two giant side screens, located within the structure of the DTE Amphitheatre.

The LAWN SEAT crowd was most entertaining, with long white balloons waving (passed-out by DTE Staff Memebers}, a few beach balls were bouncing around (which I had to "volley" a few times, because I sat near the bottom of the Amphitheater Hill), a few lighters flickering (at nighttime) and some isolated wild and sexy dancing was going on. Most noteworthy, were a few select groups of young hippy chicks, who would dance "barefooted" and in a "wild and sexy" way (mostly on the sidewalk between the amphitheater seats and the lawn seats).

Not to be outdone, some balding, well-tanned and shirtless, middle-aged man (wearing khaki shorts and a red-painted "peace sign" on his bare chest) was constantly dancing like he was either extremely drunk and/or tripping on acid!!! He even did a "pole-type", sexy dance by the amphitheater's railings!!! He may have been at the first "DTE Energy Music Theatre" HIPPIEFEST (in 2006), as well!!!

There were many "grandmas" and "grandpas" wearing "tie-dye" and/or brightly colored hippy-styled clothing (like "flowery printed pants" and colorful headbands). One middle-aged, male hippy wore long hair, which was all done in brightly-colored beads!!! Another middle-aged man was wearing a black-colored "hippy" wig. Halloween came early this year!!!

One middle-aged man sitting to the left of me (with his wife on the DTE lawn) joked about "scoring some weed", to a DTE Staff Member (which he appeared to be friends with). I never saw him actually smoke weed, but some people were smoking some, as I could definitely smell it's fragant aroma!!! Another middle-aged man (with his wife and some friends) joked about scoring some acid and about the infamous bad "brown acid" sold at WOODSTOCK 1969!!!

I just "grooved" to the tunes, ate some powerful "frozen lemonade" and enjoyed "people watching". People were friendly and easy to talk to. It was thoroughly entertaining. All in all, a fun time was had by all!!!

HIPPIEFESTS are just FUN!!! I'm looking foward to HIPPIEFEST 2009, and maybe the 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF WOODSTOCK 1969 (WOODSTOCK 2009)!!!
