What makes yours? I have been to a wide variety of Thanksgiving dinners over the years; Jewish, African-American, Hawaiian/Asian Pacific, Latin, Caucasian Midwestern, Southern, California, and even an imported version that I made when I was living in Austria. I like the mythology that surrounds the holiday. With it comes good fellowship, family, friends, and a bounty of food. Fortunately, I have never been to a table with practicing alcoholics or folks strung out on drugs. It is a wonderful time to talk about gardening and renewing the planet and life commitments. Have you ever had a hippie Thanksgiving?
@Duncan here's a tale of hippies camping out for Thanksgiving! I know they were hippies as I was there Thanksgiving on Tortola

Very welcome. Older dude, 60 years old. Definitely try to share the stuff I have come across. Wishing you good vibes. By the way, I have meditated with a few Zen groups here in NJ and took a couple of retreats over at Zen Mountain Monastery. Met Roshi Loori before he passed. Wonderful, wonderful human. Just really filled with both love and great strength. Very down to earth guy. If I remember he went over to Japan in the 50's. I think he may have been connected to some folks from the Beat Generation? Or maybe that was Roshi Bernard Glassman, I forget...
Do you mean the Zen Mountain Monastery in Tassajara, California? I have visited there and experienced the wonderful bread that Ed Brown created. They also have "The Greens" restaurant in San Francisco, a very special vegetarian restaurant. I have been meditating and reading Zen philosophy since I was a teen. Now 68.
