I'm thinking of some place hippie to live on the Hawaiian islands. While Oahu is the busiest and probably most diverse, I'm leaning more towards Kauai. Any ideas/suggestions with accompanying reasons?

Hawaii is my dream place but all the places in Hawaii I would like to live, the locals are stuck up ass wods to people who aren't native to there.

Most beach paradises are populated by many un kindly locals, but the dick heads dont realize that turists are their main source of income, wich leads to evolution and improvement !!

I'd have to say not Kauai, because my friend just got back from there (she was working for a cruise ship, then took a long vacation), and said that was the one island that she didn't really like because of the people there, and also, she nearly was mugged. But there's this place she talks a LOT about now (Molokai, I think) that sounds beautiful and wonderful to go.

From my experience, Maui or Kona would be best.Especially upland in the jungle. But when people come from the mainland,it would be smart to treat the locals with respect--otherwise they can be very hostile. It's easy to live off the land there, what with the weather being eternal spring time.
