i'm going to go with a total obvious classic here and say "stairway to heaven" by led zeppelin. actually pretty much anything by led zeppelin is good and you should listen to any of it.
also, janis joplin's cover of "summertime" is pretty mindblowing.
i'm too lazy to type anything else.

I agree with everyone jefferson airplane espically the song "White Rabbit" by them. Its like my favorite tune. But I would also recomend some Floyd,Jolpin,Hendrix,Grateful dead, THe Doors ( Jim Morrison) which is my favorite singer and poet. So anything like that You should like if you dig any of those artist.

Along with all who were mentioned in the line of hippie musicians, I would personally like to add Joan Baez, Arlo Guthrie, Scott McKenzie(the singer behind the song "San Francisco"), Strawberry AlarmClock, and Cream.

Jim morrison is indeed in my opinion the great poet I've ever come across.
He's words so erotic and pure just bulid interested in his next choice of phrase, man.
Also the jams of the doors are incredible! I happen to think ray manzarek is the most spontaneous musicans ever. The doors are my favorite band.

If we're just posting random hippie bands, then Phish, Perpetual Groove, and The String Cheese Incident are my favorites. If you looking for sweet melodic songs like you mentioned, I can't really help you those bands are old and the songs have changed. But I don't think anyone mentioned Bob Dylan yet. Personally I like bands that I can still see live so here's a list of songs by P Groove, Phish and SCI that you should check out if you just like hippie music.

    Three Weeks- P Groove
Too Close to the Sun- P Groove
    Andromeda- P Groove

    Divided Sky- Phish
    Water in the Sky- Phish
    Free- Phish
    Pebbles and Marbles- Phish
    Phish really has so many.....

    'Round the Wheel- SCI
    Joyful Sound- SCI
    Wake Up- SCI
    Mouna Bowa- SCI
    Rollover- SCI

    Hope this helps.

The Beatles are great "peace and love" music. Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, Bob Dylan, Buffalo Springfield, Doobie Brothers. All great music.

the moody blues.. get In Search of the Lost Chord. I guess that's a little more trippy than peace and love.

there is a song by Yes called "time and a word" that is exactly what you are looking for
