Hipforums UK: Introduce Yourself!

Over the years the UK Forum has gone through a lot of changes. From the old site to the spruce new one, from 6 posts to 60,000, from just a couple of people to a thriving community. So welcome to the UK Forum, a close, friendly and thriving community online and offline.

This thread is for everyone to introduce themselves and will also serve as an MSN list, allowing everyone to get to know each other better.

Basically, the idea is for everyone to post once, and only once, in this thread. A short introduction, maybe just a few sentences, perhaps along with a picture of yourself, and maybe a link to your thread in the Karma Kafe where everyone can get to know you on a much deeper level and can ask you questions. Also, if you like, you can include your MSN address which I'll add to the list here so we can all keep in touch.

This will serve as an informal database of sorts, a little UK Forum memberlist for the reference of everyone in the community. Please only post once in this thread, that way it'll keep tidy and will help me add new addresses as people add them, without it becoming too confusing. If you want to change any of the details you've posted, you can always edit your post, and if you want to get to know people who are introducing themselves here, then why not head over to the Karma Kafe and put a few questions to them. Ok, I suppose I'd best start off. Would be rude asking you guys to introduce yourselves without telling you a little bit about me. So here it is, my one post in this thread.

Please allow me to introduce myself...

I'm Sal, AKA Peace Phoenix, which is what my real name means when translated into English. I've been moderating these forums for almost 6 years, right from the beginning of the UK Forum, helping to build it into the community it is today. I've always been a bit of a hippy, though I tend to reject labels these days and am quite happy just being me.

I'm a student, about to go into my last year at Cambridge. I'm passionate about politics, I'm a leftie, socialist, commie, environmentalist, slightly anarchistic revolutionary. I used to describe myself as a pacifist, but some things make you question such ideals. I'm also a writer. I write for Varsity, my poetry is widely published in the small presses, I write regularly for left wing websites and newspapers and I'm currently working on a novel based around the cultural struggles surrounding the London bombings in 2005.

I'm into all sorts of music, from rock, punk and indie, to dance. My favourite band are the Levellers. I love going to festivals, gigs and raves and hope to see some of you guys at them!

Hello there, I'm Sarah. I'm 16 years old, and most people here know me as "the band geek" who marches around a football field, but besides that I'm a devoted musician in many different forms, a left winged atheist who believes in the power of humanity, and also I'm the original honourary UK forum Yank! Even though at times I resent this country, it's still my home and I'm doing my best to make my little corner of it as happy and fun as I can.
I love learning about people. I learn about all people of the world through art, language, and most important to me, music. Music to me is the best form of communication, as it is the true universal language that everyone can understand.
Besides that, I love to write. I've been trying lately to find some simple journalism work to do, but its hard when you're 16 in America and don't exactly follow the views of everyone around you. I also do art, in which I mainly paint, do printmaking, ceramics and working with digial photos in Adobe Photoshop. I've had a few photos of mine published, along with a couple pieces of music and some articles.

people are oft annoying, teddy bears are less annoying generally, except for the type who go out to mad parties and bring home strippers and leave your house in a drunken mess .
I like the simple things in life hobnob biscuits and fine soup.

my favourite book is the house that beebo built a distopian children’s story where the hero beebo has all his work destroyed by the state ,gradually during the follow up books things get worse and worse for beebo his friend mop and their hamster hector eventually they end up being forced into a dark cave after being hounded as a displaced persons .....I feel the author most likely killed himself after the third book

anyway that’s generally my view of much of life, I also like reading books where optimistic people starve or get eaten by bears or through their kindheartedness cause huge disasters and with ideally them getting froze to death in the process .

I’m very fond of hermits and the whole idea of hermiting , I suppose this goes with finding much of humanity annoying, a good site if your interested in becoming a hermit is the http://www.hermitary.com/

I’m a agnostic or maybe a atheist depending on how I feel in the morning, I’m quite anti religion which I think is at best a con against mankind but again I find religion quite funny in the same way I find optimistic fluffy people being eaten by bears funny.

I’m fond of Mongols Genghis khan being a childhood hero mainly for his great sense of humour

Hallo there, I be John and I can't even remember when I started posting on the hipforums. There's been a few name changes too, but OctopusRide is the one that's chance to ring a bell.

It's all rather strange this here tonight. I'm not sure why I came by, been a while since I was last on, but I did and POW...A New Generation. It honestly felt for a moment or two that the UK Forum had some Magnetic/Bermuda mystery to it, drawing people in when something was going on.

I've since realised it hasn't But still!

So I guess you can say my mind tends to go for the fantastical first and foremost! But I'm a Libra so it's not long before rationality comes into play. I can dig it.

I love me music. I play and I'm learning to play a bunch of instruments. Guitar, Bass, bit of Piano, Harmonica. And I'm really fond of cheap and/or weird instruments like Thumb Pianos and Zithers. Love all kinds of music, from Tribal to Classical to Electronic. With of course healthy doses of Rock and Ole Role.

Pink Floyd's "Animals" is the greatest record of all time!

I'm quite into alternative therapies and medicines also. In particular Herbalism. Been getting fit recently too! Jogging, Cycling, Bit of the old muscle building. And I'm learning Wing Chun Kung Fu, slowly but surely.

And I think I should call it a day there :&

As far as travelling I have been to indonesia, tibet, india, tailand, alaska, canada, america, mexico and all europe!!!! As far as festivals been to glastonbury, big chill and loads of psy-trance parties in lush locations i.e gnomelands, strange daze, morocco 2001, solipse, fushion festival, shamania, boom festival.......

I love music!!! I love ambient music (hence the name) also like a lot of heavy metal, psy-trance and euro-trance!!! I live for music so that is why I spend most of my time at raves and festivals................
