    Hey all!
Just a college student in Boston - I have been wondering...
Is there any good hip shops in the city? I went to Coolidge Corner last weekend and found a nice Indian shop, but it didn't have all that I was looking for. I'm looking for a shop that sells cool vintage clothing, patchwork, eastern flavor - you know - hippie. ^_^(sorta like the garment district) I go to a local one in CT and could spend hours just searching through the store up and down (and not buy anything). I'm open to any and all suggestions. We all know Boston's a great walking city, so spending a Saturday walking from Cambridge to Chinatown, Beacon Hill to Brookline isn't an issue for me.

    Thanks for your help!

I agree. My friend just told me about this great tea shop in Harvard Square - no coffee at all. That would be a cool place...

Before I left for the summer, I walked all the way from Brookline to Cambridge. Loved it. I love the T just because you meet so many interesting people on it. I'm hoping to come back a couple of times in the summer to do some more exploring. You can never do enough exploring in Beantown. :D

are you talking about Tealux? that place on Newbury st is a great little tea shop they have over 150 different flavors of tea and great portions on the sandwiches they sell for cheap.

Heck yes I am talking about Tealuxe. I prefer the one in Cambridge, just because it's in and out for me. :)

I don't really like the tea at Tealux... I like ERC (Espresso Royale Cafe)...but I like the one on Comm Ave (on BU campus...where I go) better than Newbury...its more comfy and friendly and they play fab tunes. :) There's also a nice tea place in Alston...a few (3?) blocks past Super 88.

As for clothes...I def vote for Garment District...that big ol' pile of clothes is good cheep fun! :) You never know what you'll find. I found a whole outfit for $3. :)

Hempest is a good shop if you have alot of money to shell out. They have really heady pipes and some cool clothes there, but i must emphasize how expensive everything is.

I adore the Garment District. I get so much cool stuff there.

As far as food, I love Felipe's on Harvard Square. I go to movies late with my friends in Harvard and have to catch a shuttle back to Brandeis. Normally there's about an hour between when the movie lets out and the shuttle, so we go to Felipe's and play board games. The owner sometimes comes over and plays with us too :)

My cousin's aunt owns the Tealuxe on Newbury Street, but I've never been.

    Newburyport :)
You can get there from North Station on the commuter rail if you don't know where it is.
