Hip Forums 4.1

As you know, I haven't been doing much to improve the site, even though my intentions were to do just that.

Well, turns out there's a new update to the forum software, and I can see a big improvement in the design at last!

I guess the move to 4.0 was a big upgrade with all new code, but there weren't a lot of new features added.

The new 4.1 has redesigned some parts of the site that were not so intuitive and made them far easier to use and more powerful.

First among these is a new way to navigate the site. No more "View New Content", which I think we're all somewhat disappointed about.

However we won't be able to do the upgrade for about a month, as I'm presently engaged creating a new site.

So I'm glad we waited for this, and just be patient.

Hopefully this software will finally live up to all its promises.

Of course there will be some down time, I expect a day or so, as the data must be migrated once again to get us to the 4.x level.

I'll give advance notice when this happens, so you don't all freak out...

 

A whole new interface will appear giving you complete control in one panel over what comes up.
Now you usually have to make several clicks to various pages to get to the data you want.
It's like a search on steroids. And the site will become more "social" than ever.

You'll be able to setup a seach to find whatever you want in ALL sections of the site at once.
You'll be able to see anyone's postings all in one place too, instead of divided into sections.

And this is just one new feature, there are others, plus the changes from the update to 4.0 which we still haven't done.
