I’m 29 and wanted to say hello. I have dreaded the top of my hair and I have an undercut. I wanted to know if it’s okay that my hair is short. I only see African American women with short dreads. I don’t mean any disrespect, I just like dreadlocks and thought it was cute. Should I wait till my hair is longer?

You mean to ask if it's cultural appropriation? Dreadlocks are on that list, but I wouldn't be too worried. Your intentions seem to be earnest enough.

my brother has them too.

 

I used to have beginnings of dreads, but after several weeks I was able to comb them out. I don't remember at all, but I bet my hair was really messed up after that.
