i decided yesterday that there's no reason i should wait to get dreads anymore. my job isn't even a big deal- i'm a substitute teacher (ie: no specific boss, no co-workers, at a completely different school every day). so i'm doing it! i have super frizzy fat ringlets. they knot up so much on their own that i've had accidental dreads lots of times. the only things i'm doing are washing with non-residue soap and rubbing & playing with certain locks of hair. i've heard saltwater's good for drying out hair.... how often? do i wash it out? i'm so excited! i'll post pictures as soon as they look like anything!
salt water rince not too often, maybe once a month, or twice the 1st month or 2 & definately rince it out after ove only done it once or twice but what i did was wash it, then the salt water rince then rince it out & your good
congrats! its sounds like youre gonna have awesome locks i dont know about the salt water, i dont do rinses exactly, but i do swim in the ocean all summer and never wash it afterwards. actually, thats how i wash my hair as long as its warm enough lol i think it depends on your hair type. if you have dry brittle hair, i wouldnt put salt in it at all. my friend uses a mixture of water, sea salt and lemon juice sprayed onto his hair with a spray bottle a few times a month and says it really helps. good luck
well, right now they look slightly fuzzier and there's some matting going on at the back... i'll play with 'em tomorrow after i get up- lots o' knots in the mornings! i have some lovely salt water in a squirt bottle if i need it. wheeeeee.... dreads!! yours are gorgeous, by the way! i've been looking at everyone's photos and you guys are so cool!
good luck with em...and i i know i sound stupid, but do you seriously live in a treehouse. cause if so, thats so awesome
no, haha... just the tiniest sweetest apartment ever. my bf and i call it "treehouse" cause we have to climb a steep fire escape to get in and cause we're both really tall and it feels like we are just playing that we live there.... i would love to live in a real treehouse, but i don't think my bf would, haha.
i would love lovin in a treehouse or a cave i wouldnt suggest lemmon juice in the spray, it reacts to sunlight & heat & causes a peroxide like bleaching & could make hairbrittle olwyn... can ya post some progress pics?
oops meant livin in a treehouse but if your livin in a treehouse ya might as well be lovin in a treeehouse too srry all the keys are worn blank..lol
i'll post some photos as soon as i figure this camera out stupid inanimate objects, always trying to confound me....
oh yeah, and i'm not playing with lemons... not doing much of anything to my hairs, really. just letting 'em be...
Try wearing a wool hat too, theres something about wool fibers that really helps your hair knot up like crazy.
