Heritage or G&L is the real question. Though I use both... a stock Gibson (most likely) won't live up to its QC qualifications and neither will a standard MIM fender, but I've never had a problem with the reissues or americans. The Japanese models are starting to go up. I'm just picky about that thing because you don't want it to short out or get staticky on you (CTS pots are the way to go)... the stock bridge pickup on the gibson went harmonic after nine months.
I dont even know the difference, Like i want a Original 60's les paul, and if i get a strat i want alot of sustain oh but i dont want it short out.. I want a good one
I like strats. Its mostly a personal preference thing. I can't stand mexi-strats though. If you can afford a nice US strat that's the best way to go, for me anyways.
Yeah, but they have a warmer sound... strats sound like nasally rickenbackers. I don't really care, though... ahah, once you play long enough, you can make any brand of guitar sound good as long as it won't short out on you and it has good action.
Well It Involves Price As Well Do You Play Lead Or Riddim?> Les Paul Is Great To But Way Moe Xpensive
les paul westfields get really lovely if you set them up right and play them enouhg, and dont burn too big a whole in the pocket
well westfield is the way to go! either that or a dobro resonator, i understand that yer not lookin for that, but my lord they're immesnse
Standard or Custom? You can find Deluxes for cheap, but IMO, they're POSses. Once you get into the late 60s Norlin owned BS, into the 80s, you're hard pressed to find one that'll sing right. Most people just blindly pay for the name, though the late 60s Customs were great. Sometimes you'll catch a good deal on ebay... I can play a Fender alot more technically and faster, but they don't do anything for slide, for me... which is why I play the les paul moreso. Honestly, if I had the time and felt like putting the effort into it, I'd get rid of them and find a PRS that worked for me. Dickey Betts was playing them for awhile during the 90s/00s... Santana has gone to them. I mean, they're near perfect factory guitars, but the prices are so high. IMO, worth more than any new stock Gibson when it comes down to playability and value.
