those twisty knots that you used for that bracelet are actually like standard knots, i don't know any good sites, i've been trying to look for some myself.....

Next time, use the same knot as the twisty one, but instead of doing them all on the same side, alternate sides. instead of twisting it just makes a flat sorta pattern. I thought i'd like making them a lot more than i actually do. i get too pissed off at the world when im trying to make one.

I have 2 hemp bracelets, 1 anklet and a necklace that I wear all the time. Seriously, I never take them off. Yeah, they were itchy at first, but after a few showers and being caught in the rain, they now feel kinda like cloth. I've found that the thicker the hemp and knots, the more coarse it feels.

I know this is kinda unpleasant, but b/c mine get wet all the time, they sometimes start to smell funny. Am I the only one who this happens to and what can I do about it??

yeah, once they get wet a couple times, the itchiness goes away. Mine get wet all the time, i pretty much have had them on since i got them, and when they get wet, they stink, there's nothin u can do about that. At least i havent ever heard of any way of getting rid of the stink.

get em wet and then dry/burn them with a lighter. wave your lighter over it fast so all the extra little itchy hairs burn off :)

And there's a really good website that I've used called betsy's hemp help but I can't quite remember the address for it. If you have a search, I'm sure it'll come up. Good luck, Fleass! Oh, and I should have a hemp website up in the New Year. Yay!

Soak your necklace in water and it ought to soften up, then you might want to blow-dry it so that it doesn't mold.

Really, any knots you would use for friendship bracelets or whatever, or any macrame knots work... The rest is up to your imagination... :D

I tried my hand hemp knotting a while ago. it went very well (i used betsys hemp help). i did have a furious fit of rage though when i realised the string wasnt cut long enough and it wouldnt fit around my wrist... after i had spent mad cash on some semi-precious beads. anyway... i recommend scouring charity shops for old 60s and 70s craft books. i found some fabulous ones that have macrame instructions. only a page or so spread, but they are pretty good and you get much better if you are looking for some really retro designs. if anybody wants them i guess i could scan them in. but they arent increadibly detailed, i would recommend them for a novice. hemp jewellery is gorgeous... i just dont have the patience.
