I am planning on dreading my hair soon. I need some help on a few ?'s that i have. first of all, i have very thin straight oily hair, will that hinder the dreading process? next, i am not planing on using wax, what else will i need. and lastly how long does my hair need to be dreaded? it is 5-6 in right now any help would be apriciated thanks
If you have very thin hair, backcombing won't be helpful...probably best if you do it naturally... If you have oily hair, it is important to wash frequntly...oil will make the knots slip right out...so keeping it clean is very important in order for dreads to form. If you do the locks naturally, you won't need anything. STop using a comb, and conditioner and you're all set. You can start dreading your hair when you can pinch the hair with your fingers...My boyfriend started dreading his hair when it was SUUUUUPER short...and his dreads turned out great! That was five years ago...almost six...and he has dreads way past his shoulders and half way down his back.
So back combing won't work? How long does it take to form dreads the natural way? And do i shampoo while going natural, i have dr. bronnerrs soap. and how do i get BIG dreads?
