Ok so I am looking for some quick input on an issue I have.
I posted this in one other catagory, just trying to get a quick response, sorry if I broke any forum rules.

Heres the situation, I am a long time Chronic Pain Patient at a Pain Management Doctor.

    Currently I am receiving 60x 30MG Opana ER and 150x 30MG Roxycodone.

I just lost my health insurance for a few months as I am in the process of switching group coverage providers at my business.

This means I cannot afford to continue taking Opana ER. The Opana script alone will cost me almost $500 to fill at my pharmacy.

I mentioned it to my doctor last month and he said something about possibly using methadone as a replacement to my long acting narcotic(Opana).

Well quite simply I am affraid of methadone, I have heard so much negative things about it that I really am scared to start taking it.

Does anyone have any suggestion as to what I might be able to use instaed of the Opana ER that will be somewhat cheap to get filled. I just need to switch from the Opana ER for a couple months until my new insurance carrier gets our policies into effect.

MS Contin, Dilaudid(?) any suggestions please????

    Im scared of methadone.

What is there to not fear about methadone, especially if he is going to be taking it everyday for a couple months. withdraw from that is about as bad as it gets.

Well I ended up talking the doctor into giving me Morphine Sulfate ER.
It cost me $125 for a months supply. I was much happier with that outcome then having to take methadone, which he did suggest several times becuase of its low cost. I told him if he gave me methadone it would sit on my dressor and I would not take it and would just live in pain for two months until I get my new insurance carrier in place.

im in chronic pain, first off fent sucks, and methadone with oxys has the the best synergy.i would love to be able to get methadone then what they switched me to today they gave me opana er.40mg 5 times a day and yes its ER.i was begging to be put on methadone again.that combined with oxys helps pain greatly.the doc im seeing now will not switch me back too methadone i was on 220mg a day 11am 11pm so 22 a day, then when i was forced to see this doc he put me on fnt and kept raising my dose,i was up to 300mcg a day.all they did for me is make me break out in rashes.my body is filled with itchy red rashes.
did you like opana er.200mg a day is what im on.is that weakl dosage cause she said shell raise it up next time.
im curious how the mixture of opana and oxy 30s were?
but id switch to methadone if i was you.

All the negative shit around Methadone is from inexperienced people taking too much. You dont really get high from it, so people keep uping the dose hoping to get high and then they overdose. Ive been on Methadone for almost 2 years, although not for chronic pain. But i know people who use it for chronic pain, including my brother for kidney stones. Its long acting, and very cheap. As far as the people saying the withdrawals are awful, its true. But you dont have to worry about that since youll be changing back to another painkiller once your new insurance is back. I'd go on Methadone, and also Roxys for the instant pain relief.
