So I'm going to be here in England for the first time in years and years. I'll be up just north of London. I have no idea what I wanna do yet. My dad was just asking me, as my uncle called and asked what's going on? And that he was debating whether he is going away that weekend or not.

Guys, give me some idea of what I could possibly do?

That depends on what YOU like to do! Will there be kids with you?

Here's one list of things to do in north London:

    http://www.dayoutwiththekids.co.uk/things-to-do/north_london

Me, I'd grab the first flight OUT of there. I hate cities.

Except for Manhattan. Oh, yeah, and Sydney. and Boston.
    And I love Nakhon, Thailand.

I still hate cities. Hard to find any good wild birds to photograph.
Hard to see the stars at night

I don't like England, but I've never been there,
and I'm a college literature prof.
I LOVE their books, but not the weather

    :(

Kind of ignorant to say you don't like somewhere, especially a whole country, which by the way has set the standard for many of the freedoms you know and love today.

So no I'm not going to get the first flight out, as my flight leaves two days later anyway. It's not ideal being here either, but my family is what I "like" and what matters to me. And yeah this birthday is gonna be a family affair cause for instance my two year old goddaughter has only spent like a month total with me an I have ten cousins on one aide the family alone that I haven't seen in forever.

Birdpics do not thinknof me as being a deliberate dick towards you, just didn't like how you said u didn't like a whole country and have never even been there. Oh and I love birds too haha maybe we can exchange pics sometime.

Question; how much cannabis you smoke in Thailand and is it easily available? I know of the drug trade there through news outlets and films but I her lost contanct eighths family inknew from there and wouldn't ask them about it anyway.

I don't know..crowded cities, traffic..don't like it, that's all. Nothing to do with you.
I love open spaces, birds, water,
like what's in the southwestern US,

    Australian Outback! (Love it!)

5-23-05, I'm getting a kiss from "Sir Wobbles," the biggest camel in the string, last day of 5-day camel trek

but my daughter likes those old European cities and stuff, but mostly she likes Tokyo and Vienna. I won't even go to Europe. Just thinking about all those crowded cities and buildings gives me the willies.

If I want to relax, I head into the wilds.

But I do like Washington, D.C...the National Art Gallery, the Smithsonian, etc. I used to fly there every weekend when my husband's airline was based in D.C.

But have fun! Don't worry about what I think...just do what YOU want to do!

:) I love varying landscapes, city, countryside, jungle, mountains. In fact I think mountainous regions are my favorite.

Don't worry I'm not bothered by what you like either! I will be doing me! Looks like decision was already kinda made for me anyway. My brother, dad, and uncle had planned to go to a football match that day anyway, so I think ill go along with them just to please everyone else and at least I'll be with my family. Just didn't wanna spend 2 hours travelling there and two hours back but looms like I'll be doing that regardless. :(

Ph well make the best of situation.

That sounds fun as hell, no need for the frownie face! I hear soccer games are insane in Europe. My advice is to get wasted as possible, and scream for the home team the entire time.

Lol well our team is playing away, at another club. so yes we will be getting drunk, i may be imbiding in a couple other treats, and yes it does get crazy. this is a smaller club and in recent years hooliganism has calmed down quite a lot. its still there, but not as open as it was back in 90s where people were just pulling police off of horses and shit.

Plans arent 100% but even if this goes down, I am still going to have a day in london most likely getting drunk and seeing sites with family.

MIGHT save the little bud i managed to find over here, until my birthday, but then again may toke it up next couple days. :sifone:

thank you jenn! It actually isnt until new years, few days after ;) and yes, i was blessed to find some cannabis, some medicine, out of the blue, just shows you it comes to those who

Hope your christmas is wonderful and you get blown :sifone:

Machinist, that is agood idea dude, i actually really like anthony bourdain, his new show on cnn is a little more politically correct than some of his others, which is ok, i like when he a bit edgier, but still good stuff

I have already been up the shard, which is tallest building in western europe i believe.

would be cool to go again stoned, idk what i wanna do in london yet, there is so much but i know its gonna be a blast!

Ha, ha-watching "football" growing up in Haiti was all we did, or playing it with green sour oranges since they couldn't be squashed.

The Thai are just as fanatical, except I've had an on-going battle of wills to keep the games out of the classroom (at least while I'm present)

But here there are plenty other weird sports to watch..cock fights, cow fights, bird singing contests,
Petang (they throw metal balls at targets in the grass inside a ring of stones..almost like a huge game of marbles),
Takor-like soccer, except they use their bodies and back of the heel to keep a woven straw ball in the air while passing it,
until someone hooks it 20 ft up and through a tiny opening in a hanging target.,

and weird stuff I can't even believe humans can do..where kids leap over long rubber bands,

very high kite-flying wars with razors on the strings and on and on.
    This country is PURE MAGIC!!

    :2thumbsup:

As far as US cities go it has history and diverse population, I mean, I enjoyed it, you live anywhere near Rowley by any chance? I haven't been there in years though so may have changed. Heard you guys got a big heroinprpblem.

Birdpics, the kite flying with razors sounds awesome! Which parrot of Thailand you in? I am planning to go to the footie match on the actual birthday, maybe a couple days before I'll go check out some stuf in the city. When I get back to GA I also plan on doing something with some friends for my birthday.
