Hello, im a healthy (at least i thought) 18 year old male who has occasionally used Marijuana since 8th grade. Im am now a fresh in college running on the track team for a University. During the end of my first month in college, me and a few friends decided to ingest some marijuana. We made bud butter and ate it on some crackers. Im not positive on the actual amount I took in, but i do know it was to much, for the next 6 hours were terrible. I began having extreme time shifts, and bascially forgeting where i was every 3 seconds. I was extremely confused and i felt like everyone was screaming at me. I began to think i had died and gone to hell. My heart rate was beating extremely hard and fast. Vision was extremely distored. My body began to shake, a freind handed me a glass of water to drink, but i was shaking so much i couldnt hold onto it. I laid in bed for a long time shaking terribly to the point where it looked like i was having a seisure. It was the most scared i have ever been, after sleeping my hands were still trembling , and my world was pretty fucked up for a week, although the shaking did go away.

Since the experience, the effects of THC have completely changed for me. Every time i get high , my heart rate starts going really fast and i begin to shake. Not as bad as i did when i had my bad experience, but a definite shake. Since i shake i cant really do normal things i used to when i was high. I have not been smoking lately due to fear that something bad will happen because of my heart beating to fast and the uncontrollable shaking. I would also like to note the few times ive smoked/vaped marijuana since the bad experience have all been much more intense. I have extreme closed eye visuals and an inability to control when im talking and when im not talking. It is scary.
    Does anyone know whats wrong?
Has this happened to anyone else?
Should i stop using THC entirely?

    I appreciate any information. thankyou

i get shakes bad on occasion, however thats usually when im stoned and under stress..

i know the heart shit is a normal side affect, never looked into the shaking.

Sounsd like you just ate too much.
I used to get the mean leg twitches when high, kinda like spasms that made me look like a retard, but I got used to it and now I dont get them any more, which is kind of sad because I actualy came to enjoy it.
I often get the pounding heart thing- which is why I often eat weed (its worse with smoking)
But anyhow it just sounds like you ate too much and freaked out.
My advice: dont take thc for about a month or when you feel confident enough to use it again. Also stat with a lower dose.

I've experienced this a few times. Can get pretty bad and for me just feels like my body is tensing up in certain parts and I cannay control it and it starts to jitter. Whenever it has happened, I've always calmed myself down and rode it out. A couple mins later and I'm fine, & super stoned.[IMG]

i agree with ghost up there, give it a break for a little while, like a month or two, and come back to it.
if that doesn't help you out and you still don't like how it makes you feel then just quit, no use smokin it if you don't like it.

after those crackers, I bet you got kinda scared of thc and was nervous when you smoked it right? all you have to do it relax and take maybe a few hits and see how you feel and if you want more then keep going... but remember to relax, its all in your head.

If you would have relaxed it might have stopped. That happend to me once, one second I was shaking like I had just jumped into ice water. Next thing I know I'm like part of the couch and can hardly move.

I had a similar experience when i was around 16. Roughly 1982 or so. I got a ride to a party with the old local town stoner. Great guy, funny and harmless. As he was driving to this party we smoked ALOT of weed in his car. When we got to the party i grabbed a beer from the keg and a couple minutes later as i was standing against a wall my whole body started to shake and i felt like i was gonna pass out or at the least fall down. I never fell or passed out, just leaned against the wall. Scared the shit outta me but in a few minutes it was gone.

If I get shaky I just drink some liquor. Not exactly sure why it helps or if it really helps and is not just a placebo.

its a mental issue like many people have said. Or its something thats very rare that was triggered in you to now be allergic after all that time, but I doubt it. Just chill, dont smoke til ur 100% comfortable

When you eat THC, it turns into a metabolite, unlike anything you get from smoking. Since you can eat far more than you can smoke, it's more powerful and affects you for a way longer time.

NEVER, EVER, EAT THC without being relatively certain of the dosage you are ingesting.

Most people who make "tainted goods" for resale thru dispensaries know the correct dosage to put in a batch of brownies or cookies or cake. Usually one cookie or brownie like that won't get you so wasted you can't move.

If the item has double dosage, they usually inform you of that, and you'll know because the price is often about double. That dosage is geared to medical patients in a lot of pain.

So to just make your own "bud butter" (as opposed to "shake butter"), you have to be extremely careful with it. It's going to be very potent.

NEVER EAT BUD BUTTER STRAIGHT, like you did. Cook it into something else, so that it will be broken up into set doses. Just piling it on a cracker is askin' for trouble.

I agree with the others. Stop using it for a month or more. Then try again. If you still have these problems, you may have an underlying heart or circulatory problem and should consult a medical practicioner for sure.

An extreme reaction to excess Cannabis consumption can indicate other health problems. Take this as a warning and BECOME more AWARE of your health.

I appreciate all the advise. I recently returned to my hometown for thankxgiving. I went and met up with a bunch of freinds who were drinking a little bit and smoking pot. I decided to only have a few shots and not smoke. Ofcourse later, the shots that i had taked decided i should smoke a bit too. I took one hit of some nug from a pipe, which irritated my lungs enough to decide that it would be my last hit. I figured i would be fine since i only took one hit. I soon started to loose my vision to strange patterns and began shaking uncontrollaby. My friends did not know what was going on so they decided to drive me home. In the car i started to feel like i couldnt breath, my heart was beating VERY hard, i opened the car door at a stop and began walking in fear that i was losing control of my function and that walking would neutrilize this. I made it to bed ok, and woke up feeling fucked up. I looked at my arm laying down in the bed next to me, and noticed that i could see my arm, hand , and fingers slighty jitter in rythm with my heart beat(which was still going fast). Its obvious that i need to quit marijuana for a while.

If nothing else, you should get your blood pressure checked (you can do this at most pharmacies). If you're having such a severe reaction to one hit, you really do have a physical problem and cannabis has alerted you to it.

One other possibility is that there is something in the weed that you may be having a reaction to. Is it the same weed each time? A lot of mold might set off an allergic reaction.

Are you overweight? Smoking supposedly increases the size of your heart (temporarily). If you are overweight this could add to the pressure on your heart (just as too much gas does), possibly causing the symptoms you're having. In which case, it means you should lose weight, or suffer the consequences...

that kind of stuff used to happen to me. i don't feel like going over the story since i have like 2348 times but.

i stopped using thc for about.. 5 months. i'm slowly starting to reintroduce myself to it and so far things are going great.

so, in conclusion, i say just take a little break from it and when/if you start again just try smoking it, so you know how much you are takin in and you won't have such a fierce, uncontrollable high.

5 11, 130 lbs, def not over weight. Once again, im a long distance runner, my average resting heart rate is in the 40 to 50 bpm range. So its a pretty scary thing when my heart jumps much more than double this from one hit of marijuana.

Had the same, turned out to be hyper ventilation in my case...
In combination with alcohol it became worse sometimes, just felt like dieing.

Caused alot of stress, and you start thinking "omg, will it happen again?" when you smoke it, which will acually trigger it... or well, that's how I experienced it.
Took me a wihle to get around it and be able to smoke what I want again.
