how old do the plats have to be till you can clone them? oh and my 2 indicas are curling the sharp bits of theire leaves- theire only 2 weeks old but already have small brown/orange dots on some leaves- i think it might be humidity or temperature -its about 80fahrenheit. sorry but i cant get pictures if u know what could be wrong plz tell me thanx
Not much info, but I'll give it a shot. curling could be caused by lites too close. spots possibly by leaving water drops on leaves (little magnifiers). But then there are many good books that explain all this out there.
OK from what I've read one uses the new growth that appears in th' leaf joints and these need to be 2"-4" long to fit rock wool blocks or whatever medium one is using, foam even works if cut to fit th' holes in yer cloning tray.
uh- another question- my indicas are now around 2 weeks old and 1 is 20cm and the other is 16cm (germinated 2 days later) and where the branches go 2 ways theres 2 seperate sticks- white at bottom and green near tip- is it possible that their males-and i thought u could only sex plants when theire flowering?
Preflowering at 2 weeks? Not very likely. That would be like a pregnant 3 year old child! I think he means the little fangs that appear at every node. (what are those things called anyways?)
yea that's what's "weird" about his description i really just have no clue what's trying to be articulated... pictures with nifty circles done in ms paint would be infinitely helpful. Actually, do the nifty circles with gimp, fuck microsoft.
okay this is a pic of what the sticks look like - im gonna try to get a camera soon but at the mo i cant>>>>>>soz about the crap drawing
they're not male yet, first -too early; second - pre flowering ocures only when they've been shocked. Did you read any faq on th' subject at all?
ive read loads of guides and ive got crevantes book- and in it it says-with a pic- that these 'sticks' are an early sign of males so i got freaked and asked here- but im starting to think every plant has it cuz im growing 4 plants and 2 are young and 2 are older and all of them have and its really low chance of getting all males right? i dont think i caused stress....
I don't know what those sticks are called but they're not indicating yet. when you lokk at said sticks they appear just below nodes, when plant goes into flower th' male or female parts appear on the edge of the node above those sticks.
You can cut clones onces the plants reach maturity. You can tell when the plant has reach maturity because the growth pattern of the nodes changes. At first the nodes will grow 2 at a time from the stalk. In other words shoots will be paired. One on one side of the shoot, and another exactly opposite. When mature, the nodes will alternate. So one node on one side, then halfway up the segment, another node on the opposite side. You can take clones earlier I suppose, but the clones will not have developed their sexual orientation yet, so you risk growing a bunch of plants that just turn into males. If the plant you are cloning from is a clone already, then you won't have to wait for maturity, because a clone is actually as old as it's original parent.
Sorry, I should've mentioned that most mj plants will reach maturity after about 4 to 6 weeks from seed.
