july 11th, 2008 i got caught stealing from wal mart. at the time they took all the shit i was gonna steal. sent me on my way. i went to court, did my shit. went through probation/color code. sept.4 2009 i get a letter from a legal office saying that i have 20 days to settle and pay 250summat dollars to wal mart or they'd take up further legal action. what the fuck is this about? i havent gotten a chance to read the letter its self but how the hell can they do that? i've been prosecuted and shit. i did my probation! not cool

The one my friend worked at had ridiculous security. 2 security guards constantly monitoring the cameras, if they saw someone stealing something they apprehended them. That's fucking bullshit though...90 billion in revenue not enough for those greedy capalist fucks at walmart? They'll snatch every penny they can from you. Unfortunately, a lawyer will probably cost you more than the $250.
I say read the letter, tell us what it says, but regardless the $250 is probably your best bet. It's probably some sort've charge for security, processing, etc. However, if it is for the stuff you stole, you may want to call Wal-Mart and ask them about it.
If they already prosecuted you, they cant do it again. Get a lawyer to tell them to shove it up their respective asses.
walmart doesnt go around askin for 250 bucks unless they have a legal reason...you can bet they have the law on there side....and i hate walmart with a passion....walmart breeds a hatred inside me
This is a civil assessment-most states allow companies to 'bill' you for their cost of prosecuting shoplifting. The amount varies from state to state-it is standard practices for most states and companies to do this. I don't think they can go after you any more-except for not paying this bill. They might be able to start charging you interest for not paying. At some point they will have a lawyer continually call you (robocall). This might add more costs to it. But there is not much they can really do to get you to pay the bill.
if i steal from anywhere its walmart...we often refer to stealing things as "walmarting" something but anyway to micha, what kevin said above sounds about right sucks but i think you will have to pay the 250 but definitely read the whole letter and see what it says
Just go steal $250 worth of of their merchandise and sell it, and use the money to pay the bill. Or send them a letter saying that this micha character, no longer resides at that address.
thank you drew.. One you have already paid it with a the probation punishment.. It will go against your credit as a uncollected debt.. FUCK IT!! if it wasnt assessed in the prosecution, meaning the court didnt make a stipulation to pay wallyworld back .. CASE CLOSED!
I've stolen in my life plenty of times, but never have I shoplifted, and if I did it was something that was under $1. I don't know if that makes me a puss or a good guy, haha.
