My little girl is turning 7yrs soon and we ve decided to invite her friends for a giant tea party to celebrate.Part of the menu plan is to make lots of cute sandwhiches cut out with different shaped cookie cutters. So far ive figured on cream cheese and cucumber, strawberry and cream cheese, peanut butter and jelly, and egg salad. Anyone have more sandwhiche ideas?

Perhaps a couple cold-cut sandwiches for the pickier girlies.

I think those are enough sandwiches, maybe chicken salad?

Are you making it a "fancy" dress up tea? With long dresses and lots of beaded necklaces? Big floppy hats and feather boas? That would be so cute!
Little cakes with pretty icing, juice and milk as well as tea.
You gave me an idea for my DD's birthday coming up in December! Clarissa loves dress up.
'Sokay if I steal your idea?:)

Chicken salad is now on the menu, thanks for that: dont know why i didnt think of it. Yes it will be a totally fancy shin-dig!!! We wont be drinking regular tea, i have a variety of caffeine free herbal teas here (ginger, mint, etc..)plus lemonade, and my hubby is a chef so i plan on enrolling his help to bake creme puffs.mmm yummers. The cake is going to be pretty cool, baked in a bundt pan, flipped over with a barbie inside so the cake looks like its her skirt.always wanted to try it for my girl. Heres another little cool thing im doin: make a pinata and instead of candies inside ill be filling it with costume jewlery and hair acesseries. So fun having a litle girl!!!!

Hey sweet peace! thats funny, i was a pirate four halloweens in a row!!! I didnt get girly until i was about 9, so im pretty thrilled my daughter is getting into it already. She is such the little diva!! i did a search on pirate parties ( stuck inside today, raining alot) heres what i found family.com has a page for pirate patries including how to make a ship cake and also treasure chest cake. I cant seem to find any menu plans anywhere; maybe youll have better luck. Also i got my printable invites from www.dltk-kids. com, my daughter proudly coloured them herself. Sorry i dont know how to link those adresses. Thats cool Matt- im sure your kids love the fact that you like baking!

Make sure you have something for allergic and vegan children. I know it is a lot to consider. But we don't eat dairy and my kids and I are allergic to it, and one of our kids is a vegetarian, so have some soy cheeze finger sammies for those kids, or for the kids who are allergic to dairy ect. JMO.

This is really good- turkey with meunster cheese on a croissant. Bake it till the cheese melts and serve warm. Croissants are fancy too so that would work. Cute idea, sounds like a lot of fun-have a great time!

    For the pirate Party
Biscuits and jam or butter, grog, Watermelon fruit and veggie boat (halve it and carve out the inside and fill it with fruit, celery, a mast with a crows nest made from a carved piece of pineapple or a half an orange with the fruit scooped out.) Make a sail out of a piece of lettuce) Gold coins, Seaweed salad, Chips and guacomole (sea sludge) Swedish fish.

That is the coolest! I did that for my god-daughter's first birthday. Everyone said it was the cutest. Though Gracie didn't care. She tore the Barbie out by it's hair and face planted into the cake. hehe

But seriously, chill the doll in the fridge before you ice it, if you plan on icing the doll. I didn't and the doll had a serious case of droopy boob.

Finally got around to adding a few more pics to my gallery. Sweetpeace-did you have the pirate party? Any pics? I think my son would love a pirate themed party. What kinds of food did you end up making?

party is the 13th of november.

i sent out invites today, with a bunch of pirate lingo on them.
i am going to make a treasure chest cake, and pbj's, goldfish, and those little swizzle stick swords with frit stabbed on them.
we are doing a follow-the-clues treasure hunt that will lead to a treasure chest filled with party favors-pirate's booty.
i am also saving paper towel cores and painting them black and then having them decorate them with pirate themed stickers.
    sould be fun!!!
