Alright, I thought I would target my own people by raising money selling Dominos pizza fundraising cards with 8 buy one get one free deals on each.

As several of you know I run an animal rescue, rescuing everything from rodents that have been abandon in school dorms, birds that have been neglected and are often sick, and dogs from high kill shelters. It costs about $200 for me to bail a dog on death row out of the pound, vet them, neuter them, and adopt them into a new home for a fraction of that cost.

We have recently moved and lost a few faithful givers, as well as our resource for discount care, and food. If you can spare the extra $10 in your budget (and get some free pizza in return) the animals truely need you. It has been over a month since we could afford to take a dog out of the pound before the end. I would be happy to send pictures and post personal stories of the pets we help with your money.

PM me if you are interested in helping, I will let you now an address. Please send a self addressed envelope and the $10 and I will return the $10 fundraising card from Dominos!

$10 for a $10 dominos pizza card and that gets me free pizza? :ack:

good cause though, I feel where you're coming from.... no offense, but it sounds more like you're selling dominos pizza cards.

oh really? How can I make this sound less like that and more like a cause! We went door to door yesterday with some success, but the poor kid (dog) I took out with me was just dying in the 100 degree heat and I felt too guilty. Yeah its $10 and you get 10 buy one get one coupons on a little card. Those were the only fundraising things we could afford, maybe I'll check Krispy Kream

Dang, give the lady a break! If you don't like pizza, send ten bucks. If you like pizza but don't eat meat, get a veggie pizza. Point is, she is making an effort to help animals in need and give the person generous enough to donate a perk as well... Pizza is not the point, just a one of the benefits of helping out a good cause. Sheesh. You go girl... I wish you luck. If I had ten bucks I'd certainly get one from you to help out. In leiu of that I'll send my best wishes for success.

the point isn't pizza. the point is, i'd love to help the girl's animals. but i can't ethically give money or my business to a company that kills animals. compassionate people want to end the suffering of animals, yes, but my question is, where do each of us draw the line? to what degree to you devote yourself to it?

my original post wasn't supposed to be an attack, more of a challenge to think about what means you are actually using to get donations. the OP obviously has the animal's best interests in mind and i love that. but if i were the one raising money, i would consider a more ethical way of doing it. that's all :)

sorry, didn't mean to sound like an attack. Just at first read, it sounded more like we're plugging domino's, despite the charity thing! :( sorry!

Well, if you want to get to the nitty gritty of it all, every company, in some inadvert way, kills animals. I'm sure that some vegan hemp clothesmaker at one point in his career ran over a squirrel or two while driving. ;)

Maybe a good idea as a fundraiser is finding another way to get donations? I've done charitable things for the Canadian Cancer Society by auctioning off handknits on ebay, and have 100% of the proceeds go to the CCS. Just a thought.

and some other companies kill animals by the millions.

that's a great idea. ive made/donated crocheted hats before and it's a good way to get donations.

I did say 'if you want to get nitty gritty about it'... no need to jump on a case. I do realize that there are varying degrees of animal killings. As someone already posted, though, you can always use the Domino's gift certificates for a vegetarian pizza, that doesn't use up meat to get. :)

Well now that I've come back and read this, my goodness I didn't think it would cause such a fuss AND I wouldn't end up with a penny LOL. Anyway, I've vegan it just so happens one of the guys I live with could only find a job at dominos this summer and was able to get me a deal. You don't have to tell me! I don't endorse eating meat, or even cheese but I do know that sometimes I have to let those things go and help in the area I've chosen, which is saving dogs and birds from being euthanized. This is my only means of fundraising available right now, and right quick.
