Hi guys, This has been discussed in length I am sure, but I am hoping to put my own questions in the aid to get this sorted. - Okay, so it is winter here in the UK, and I have really been struggling with flakey and itchy scalp [white small flakes, dead skin].. I am currently washing with knottyboy liquid shampoo, and I have an increasing collection of essential oils.. Currently: Tea Tree, Rosmary Peppermint To receive soon: Lavender [currently in my basket at amazon] almond oil I am not sure what is really causing this, but obviously I am fed up. I am feeling at the moment, that it is a lack of moisture? Which essential oil is good for that? Almond oil? I am Caucasian and have straight fine hair [beneath my 3 year old locks somewhere] Thank you so so much in advance for your help, appreciate it greatly. Alex
it could simply be dried flakes of shampoo - ive noticed that if i simply dont rinse well enough, i get flakes, but its not dandruff. aloe is particularly bad at giving me flakes also, wear exfoliating gloves when you wash your hair.. scrub your scalp to release the dead skin cells and also to stimulate the blood flow. those spiky head massage things are good too
^ Smelly D! I will look into the exfoliating gloves, but concerned that you are just going to pull loads of hair out?? After I posted I came across this, which contains a lot of the essential oils I was thinking of buying http://www.drbronner.com/DBMS/OLAL16/AlmondOrganicLiquidSoap.htm
nah you dont do any pulling or anything. literally just rub your scalp with your finger tips wearing the gloves as you wash.. not like major scrub action, just finger tip rubbing
I've had really good luck with this: http://www.knottyboy.com/shop/product/peppermint_cooling_scalp_spray/ I only had problems with my scalp being dry and itchy during the first month or so but this worked really well. Since I didn't use much of it I gave the rest of what I had to my roommate and he's been using it on his dry flaky skin and other things with great results. C/S, Rev J
Ok will give it a go! Any advice for shampoo's/ oils? Hi man, In essence, all that is is peppermint essential oil with aloe vera in a spray bottle costing quite a bit of money?
i dont use oils on my scalp so wouldnt know, but i used to use LOADS of shampoo, so i try to reduce the amount i use... the more you use, the more you have to rinse..
Actually it's: Purified Water, Witch Hazel Distillate, Peppermint Essential Oil, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Certified Organic Hempseed Oil, Aloe Vera Extract, Glycerin, Grapefruit Seed Extract Actually the Witch Hazel is the really bombass part of the equation. And that bottle will last you quite a while. That $16 bottle will easily last you 6 months. If you buy all of the extracts separately and mix it yourself it will probably cost more. C/S, Rev J
