I have a question about getting dreadlocks. I am an african man and I have been growing my hair for about 2 years. For about the last six months or so I have not really combed or maintained my hair. I have some locs that are different lenghts and sizes and alot of nappy hair that is matted. It basically looks like early stages of freeform locs. The roots of my hair are not twisted. I wanted to know if it is still possible to get twist dreads that are uniform. Is it still possible to get them done so that they are the same size and length without interlocking (I prefer the twist/latching/crocheting look) ?

Thank you in advance :afro: :) :afro: :afro:

its going to be a lot of work but you can always put energy into maintaining your locks and it will do good as long as you aren't damaging your hair. though i wouldn't recommend crocheting if you have nappy hair already it would do more harm than good splitting them like that. twist and rip sounds like what you need. don't be surprised if you have to separate bits to get them uniform if they've been growing that long without maintenance.

You have no need to crochet with that hair type

Thanks for the reply!!! Great info, really appreciaite it. Rip and twist, what is that exactly?? Can they do it at a normal black salon? And I'm curious to know what you mean by no need to crochet with that hair type? Is it common for black people to not crochet? Twists are different than crochet right? Sorry for the barrage of questions.....

    Easy
