You can help to save the british bumble bee by allowing it to nest in your garden. They really arent a danger like wasps are and infact take great precautions against stinging people because once they sting something they die. Bees are absolutely vital to the british ecology and the loss of these species will hav an enormous impact on our environment Anyway heres the full stor on the bumble bee and following that, a link to exactly what you can do to help including designing nest sites for them the story http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/1314012.stm how to help http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/1314012.stm another guide to helping them help http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/1268432.stm Please find out more about this for yourself apparently scientists are really worried about the impact this will have on the environment so please do your best to help
i was reading a story about how it might be cell phone usage and their transmission towers that are cause mass hive extinctions everywhere. freaky, eh? all sorts of bees. i've only seen one bumblebee in a couple years now. it makes me sad. it's the only buzzing insect that doesn't send me screaming for the bug spray.
1 in two years ??? where do you live ? Even in london I have seen more than that, hang on no - now I come to think of it You are right I havent seen many in two years but I have seen some -- damn yoiuve got me now because three years ago I remember seeing plenty but now I cant remember how many I've seen since then, if any other than the two this week?
well, i'm in the rocky mountains of colorado. maybe it's an altitude thing. but i used to see them all the time, now i don't see any. though, for honeybees, my neighbors blossoming trees are covered in them.
really? maybe it is a altitude thing, did you read those links though as scientists are worried that the crops may fail catastrophically without those bees
Not really. The Welsh Vallies are a very rural area. We have plenty of grass and foliage which probably makes a nice place for Bee's to stay. But I'm not too sure. All I know is that Wales has plenty of the buggers.
i've seen a few bees already. i had to shout at my cat the other day because he tryed to catch on in the garden & i have seen him catch them before. bad cat, i dont mind him catching wasps tho & he's caught a few of them already in the house.
Yeah I've seen quite a few too, didn't know they were on the decline. That sucks big hairy sweaty ballbags...
