My last ADF died... and when he was dying he was always floating at the top Now my second ADF is floating!!! :'( Any way to stop death? I have removed him from his tank, into his own froggy paradice. I cant bare another one dying.. It was exactly a month from purchase when my first one died... and now its exactly a month for my second one. They were from different stores.
The most important thing is to keep their habitat (tank) impeccably clean (daily) and secondly look towards modifying their diet. If it were me, I would check around your area to find a good amphibian veterinarian to give you some advice in their care and feeding rather than rely on simply the advice from any pet store. Lastly, I am so very sorry you and your frogs, for it is always hard to lose any life which is in ones care and protection...
Stop death? You cant like make something not die when its dead.......... Google knows all. Maybe if you get another one you can learn how to prevent death.
How true, but the insensitive cruelty, either in verbal or written form to anyone in this world who has suffered a loss is an indication of a dark void in the essence of your soul. I suppose if you fail to understand my intent, then simply look up the words "compassion", "constructive" and "destructive" and then look into a mirror 'weeattoes' for the truth of your reflection.
I ended up taking the frog to the vet because I was super curious as to why they both died in such a short time.. He said they both had a illness from the pet store. so i had to disinfect my entire tank and all my tools. then quarantine all my fish and give them meds for a week.
dwarf frogs float at the top of the tank all the time, they have lungs and breath air, nothing to worry about if it does that, they are hard to feed, they are so slow fish get it before they do, so either keep em alone or without alot of fish that are bottom feeders.
We have two ADF's here... have had them since April of '06, and they were full-size when we brought them home. We did a LOT of research online before picking them up. A few things we have found to be most helpful are: * The size of the tank matters. A 20g LONG tank is perfect for 2-3 froggies. Yes they can live in a smaller one, but they're not really happy! * Vary their food... and don't over-feed! Every 2-3 days is more than enough! Frozen mosquito larvae, BBS, bloodworms are favorites in our aquarium. Those little "frog bites" pellets? Yeah, ignored. * Watch those water levels! Ours spike & crash every time we try a 25% water change... so we now do a 10% change every other day. It's more time-consuming, but the froggies are happy & the water is clean! Those are the biggest things we've learned with our fish. Good luck! love, mom
