I have been a member here for years, though I haven't been around a lot recently. I have had some major changes in my life that make it appropriate to retire my old account and open a new one. I am in my early 60s, old enough to remember the 1960s, but too young to have really participated. I still consider myself a hippie at heart. I lived for 8 years on Canada's Gulf Islands, the classic hippie haven. I live in Nova Scotia now, where the people can be a bit rednecky, but still friendly and welcoming. There are quite a few interesting back-to-the-land neo-hippies around, plus the old-timers who never left the land. We have a good university town nearby with some great people and activities. It makes for an interesting mix. We live a fairly conventional lifestyle. We are on the grid, though we have solar heat. We don't grow much of our own food, but we buy from a local organic CSA farm. We are definitely considered a bit odd by neighbours, and I am sure that the local rednacks refer to us as "those hippies". It's all good.
Welcome back, and glad to hear you are trying to stick with the hippie lifestyle. No matter where we live, or how much happens, we always seem to find our way back. Hope to see you around the forums.
