    Hi,

My name is Beccy, I play mandolin in nervosa, a progressive folk rock band, or "shifty folk" as we like to call it, from Cornwall.

I love music, Pink Floyd, Muse, Radiohead, The Who, The Doors, The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Ralph McTell... the list could go on and on...

Not sure what else to write... but hello!

Ooo what band? I always like to hear what other mandolinists are up to, and I love the double bass - what sort of music do you play?

    Thanks for the welcome :)

    Hello Beccy!
Progressive rock and folk rock are both fantastic! More bands should play it nowadays. The mandolin is a really cool instrument. I was going to teach myself but our mandolin is tuned to the bottom four strings of a guitar so when I tried to play a few chords from my book it sounded awful!
Peace to you and all your kind.

Glad you think so! Feel free to have a listen to our music if you fancy it - http://www.myspace.com/nerv0sa

Tune it to GDAE, like a violin. I'm self taught, there are some wonderful mandolin resources on the net, and you can always use violin music for melodies :)
