Just joined a few moments ago. Nice find this site was. Well, as for me, I am seventy one. I just got my first computer in two thousand in order to talk to my kids who were scattered around the countryside. Saw my son in law posting live with someone and asked if I could do that with my kids."Yeup" he says, so out I went and bought and old 486 computer. Course, I could not get on line with it. Finally I got a Pentium 2 and started learning how to surf. In seven years I think I have done pretty good learning computer workings. I take care of my own computer mostly now. My son in law said I would never master the computer. Today my daughter tells me her hubby thinks I have done marvelous.LOL Posting sites are my favorite part of using a computer. Where else can you meet people from all over the planet and learn about other places and people so easily. Anyway, I am here and hoping to meet new people and learn new things. I am a retired machinist. Retired only because injuries pretty much forced me too before I wanted to.LOL I have three kids, nine grandkids. I have been devorced for twenty six years and raised the kids alone. Back then being a single man raising kids was rare and only three existed in my area. Today it is becoming quite common. It did help me to understand the plight od the single working mom though. It isnt easy.LOL Normally I go by "Owl" but that name was already in use here apparently so "Hooty" just seemed like the next best.

Welcome to HF! It make me really happy when older people learn to use computers. Just shatters this mentality that many people have that says old people are unable to learn new things.
