I never know what to say when introducing myself online. I just spent an hour trying to get a handle on these forums and couldn't do it! Which is to say that this must be a quirky enough place to have room for me. I'm not what you'd call a typical hippie and yet all my life I've done all sorts of hippie stuff so I suppose I'm just an atypical type. I've done the back-to-the-land trip 5 or 6 times over the course of an erratic life (I'm now 76): in Ontario, Saskatchewan (twice), Catalunya (that's in the north of Spain), the Yukon and now a last fling at it in Manitoba. I'm an advocate of Absolute Freedom in the existentialist sense. My attitudes are laissez-faire about most things, i.e. my freedom stops only where the end of your nose begins and vice versa. I hate collectivism. I hate governments even more. I'm crazy about animals and birds. I love the land. I love women but I guess they don't love me. I write poetry and erotic fiction. I love silence and solitude. That ought to do it. I hope to find these forums enjoyable.
Good morning matey and welcome. We have something in common - I too have a passion for classical music and was introduced to it all by a music teacher many decades ago in a music appreciation class playing Smetana's "MA VLAST"
....... Hi Gargantua. ....... Both I and everyone here look forward to seeing you post around the forum. You have made a very good decision joining us here. Boozercruiser (Kenny). ....
It hasn't taken long to be certain of that. I'm quite pleased to have found this place, I'm only puzzled as to why I didn't find it sooner.
Cool place! I lived in Catalunya region in the north of Spain for several years, still have friends there. Wonderful place if you can handle the heat -- the midsummer sun will just about fry you.
Oh gee thanks... How to depress a bloke in his seventies: post lots of images of 20-something or 30-something hunks who spend 4 days a week in the gym pumping iron.
Well, nice to be greeted by someone relatively nearby. But oh, honey, you know you look awfully sad and serious in that big red mask. This whole COVID business... ain't it a bugger? Particularly since it seems to be impossible to separate truth out of all the lies. I've never seen so damn much lying from our much-vaunted "authorities" in federal, provincial and local governments, public health wonks, etc. From what I've learned thus far it seems quite possible that the whole thing started right in Winnipeg at Canada's only Level 4 Biohazard lab where they gave the run of the place to a Red Chinese Army scientist whom they eventually physically threw out of the building, not before she sent a CARE package to Wuhan. The erstwhile Director of the lab has since quite unfortunately died of a "heart attack" at a conference in Nairobi. ............... How about it, SnowTigger, do you think we'll be able to lead normal lives again anytime soon???
Welcome to Hip Forums. That's quite a story. btw we do have a thread dedicated to conspiracies which may be right up your alley.
Thanks for the tip, I'll have a look! Unfortunately what I posted is rather more than a CT. Story about the forcible removal of the Red Army scientist from our Winnipeg level 4 lab was in mainstream media, as also the news that the former director died of "heart attack" at conference in Nairobi. Also established fact that said Red scientist sent samples of a Saudi acute SARS virus case to Wuhan. Truth, they say, is stranger than fiction; also stranger than conspiracy theories. It's Mondo Bizarro out there these days.
I don't doubt the validity of your story, but there are so many narratives these days on how the virus came to be, the one commonality however is Wuhan.
