I was surfing the net for some ideas on simple living when I stumbled upon TwoDog's thread about staying in his van for 20+ years. To you good people here I say this: I've thought it over and I'm going to follow his advance. I have been medically retired from the military since I was 22, and I've lived in over a dozen different places since bouncing from town to town trying to find my way. I know how easy it would be for all of us here to begin a "look what Uncle Sam did to you," but rather than discuss those things, I would like to share with you how powerfully this forum has touched me in just a short time. For the last 5 years I've felt that I've had no place of my own in the world until now. After reading his posts I believe that perhaps God sent him to illustrate to me that I may not have a single place in this world, but all of it has been given to me, and yet I never realized. I wanted to stop in and introduce myself to everyone before I go back to that thread and thank Mr.TwoDogs for being such an inspiration to me. My life has been such a whirl-wind that I've felt that the only thing that I could depend on is change, and he has provided me the insight I needed to embrace that change rather than trying to fight it. Sorry that my intro looks like an autobiography, but everyone here seems to be part of a great crowd, and I'm looking forward to getting to know each of you here. *passes to the left*
