I feel for ya'll & wish we could help out but it's tight here...

I will tell you this, Sis; I know how stressful break downs can be...one year we had to rebuild the whole top end of our bus just a month or so before the Gathering; I can tell you all kinds of break down stories, but they all have the same ending...the bus always got fixed & moving exactly when it was supposed to (in the Spirit's time, not the time I thought it was supposed to be ;) ) And we always wound up where we were supposed to be when we were supposed to be there.

Have Faith Sis, it'll all work out :)

buses are alot of fun, but they also alot of work. Dont worry about the oil change it is not a car it can go 10000 miles or so before you really have to change the gallons of oil in it.if you only need one tire just get one right now. I always buy new steer tires and keep them fresh, the rear duels can look alittle worse, i run completly on steers. you cant let the situation get you down. If you have to, fly a sign in the bus windows do it and watch the people come up and help you. they are already looking at your 35 foot billboard put a message on it and let them know you need help. yahweh or god as most know him as, says ask and yea shall recieve. it is true if you dont ask for help know one hears you. you are cheating people out of the joy they get from helping others. dont even feel bad that you might have to ask,it happens to everybody. since you are not in your hometown nobody wont even know you. humble yourself and have faith. it will be fine, hippiestead said some good advice and from my expirence they are right.

chevy crossed into new york last night, we heard from her this morning!
papa bear your nuts diesel engines will run for ever if you keeop the oil changed you forget that and your bus is fucked.
the rear drivers tire needs to be done, Im saying that to cover my ass, but I drove he thing around the country for seven months as is and it was fine, nonetheless you have a spare on the roof!

Ive known a lot of lazy ass kids in my life, and honestly as we were getting into this deal I thought thats who i was dealing with. I was way wrong, chevy is one hell of a worker and shes got the gump to get shit done.

I was very impressed meeting her and tails ,

hope to see you kids down the highway.

I think they were changing the oil in darien theres a T.A and a flying j there, I left them a 5 gallon gerry can to fly with ,

have fun and be safe chevy and tails!!!!!!!!!!
remember learn to dance with the bus, it does most of the work, you just have to dip her a few times!

well i am glad all is good, i was only trying to send some susport. As for being nuts i still dont get a check for it, so i guess the jury is still out. My bus is still running strong at 130,000 miles it still has so much life in it, im ready across country again. diesels do run for ever if you change the oil, but you dont have to change every 3,000 like they tell you for cars. it could probley go another 1000 before she really needed to stress on it, and I blame the seller for giving her the idea it was so important that she was stressing on it. It always seem to work out in the end.

Chevy, I LOVED reading about your story with the bus. You're truly blessed! Everything seems to be falling into place. Just keep thinking positively sis! I can't wait until we head out to the gathering together. I think I just scored a nice job, so i may be able to help ya out. What do you need? I just sent out my resume, so i will most likely hear from them soon. When are you thinking you will be leaving?

    Peace + Love

papa bear Im the seller the bus is my signature is the bus in question and the last time I changed the oil was in arizona, travelled all the way east then south then back to canada on that oil. with that engine the 6.9 liter it seems as iff the fuel filters get clogged after a while, when it stalls on the first start thats my sign that the filters and oil needs to be changed,

trechnically you could just keep running on that oil and just pump more in, but that will crud the hell out of the engine, and cost you a lot more, once its changed and the same sort of oil is used , rotella works on the 6.9 it doesnt burn as much and the mileage is increased.....

but yea you COULD keep going on the same oil...seems like more of a hassel than its worth.

and hey I sold her the thingf I want to make sure it doesnt get fucked up.

last time I gave a bus away they made it 600 kms before they blew the engine....all it would have taken was some oil........

you are right mr blinkin driving on old oil is bad, but to go a few hundred miles more wouldnt have made a difference. all i was saying is dont stress on it, i do believe in changing oil, but it doesnt have to be every three thousand miles like they say with a car. it is a diesel it takes gallons, not quarts you could go alot further without an oil change. what do you think truckers do change there oil every other week. they would not be able to afford that. some things are worth stressing about, you have to pick your battles or you will get over whelmed, that is all i was saying, she had to go from canada to new york or something what is that three , or four hundred miles, if the bus is worth a damn, it should easily go that much farther without the stress on maintenace. so chevy glad to hear you have your bus. soaring eagle glad to see it worked out for you. as long every body is happy and safe who cares about the little things that will be gone next week.

for the record i drive a dodge truck with the cummings diesel an i rarely change the oil less than every 12 to 15 thousand miles an it has 440 thousand miles on it an is still going strong.
so i dont see where not changing it at 5 or 6 thousand wich would be about right from arizona to canada, on a bus would make any diffrence.

but some folks are just anal that way i guess.

hey man your right, burn your oil, it wont kill your engine...right away.
I wasnt worried about it making the trip to new york,
but starting the thing when it stalls out with the clogged filter is a pain in the ass, and if shes using either to start it which she is since the glo plug relay is shot she risks overbearing the engine with too much either......

but you are completely right , I am very anal about oil, extremely obsessive.

I drove long haul truck as an owner operator and I was changing my oil every two weeks. .....but hey man thats just me, its no big difference.

I heard from chevy yesterday she was passing chicago.

    peace

dude, keeping your oil clean is key to ensure you engine is working properly. I change my oil every 2,000 miles.I'm glad Chevy is on her way back. I hope she is okay.

every 2000 miles? WTF? do you know that the every 3000 mile thing is a scam between big oil an auto makers?

    http://www.freemoneyfinance.com/2006/05/money_saving_ti.html

look it up, theres no reason to change your oil less than every 5000 miles an even that on most models is overkill.

an as far as a diesel, my truck takes 12 quarts to change, it doesnt even burn 2 quarts till over 10 thousand miles.
there isnt any reason to change it any more than i do.

when your car that you change the oil every 2000 miles on surpasses 443,287 miles an is still runnin strong, then tell me how vital the changing the oil every 3000 miles is.

but my guess is your car wont make 350 thousand miles no matter what you do.

wow all these environmental hippies, who want to waste oil.I guess none of you know there is a war for oil, and we are the bad guys killing for it.

you should change your oil regularly to maintain the life of your engine, but over changing isnt good for our enviroment or this war in which we are susporting king george.

Look it up for you self

i have over 200,000 miles on my car and if i don't change the oil, then it doesn't run right and burns more gas than needed, so if anything I'm saving on gas. I can't afford to get a better car right now. maybe in a year once i get my degree.

ahhh not sure about diesel, but with our gas busses, you could always tell when the oil needed changing based on the color & thickness of the oil...we couldn't keep track of the milage on Lucy bus anyway cuz her speedometer was busted...
